Well, the US original was grey, but those are the only 2 known Action Force versions. I have no idea which one came first, sorry to say.

When did AF get there Command Center? I always thought that the US one came first :-P. That tiger stiped one would be easy to make a custom of one though.

I can't help much on which one came first, as I only found out about AF about 12 years ago. I would say the tiger stipe one would be the later though, if I were to offer a guess. The only reason I say that, would be that many companies cut corners on later productions to speed up the remaining orders and it looks to be painted without the sceens, which would have cut much time off production. Also are they both done by Palitoys? As the later one looks like something Hasbro would do, if they produce one in AF colors. Just some ideas.

The spray camo version is the latter and there are three versions in total:

1. Defined Camo
2. Spray Camo
3. Wavey Spray Camo

Palitoy was a factory with a large amount of human labour. As a result there were loads of variants. My best guess is that aligning the spray templates turned out to be a nightmare and/or took too much time to keep up with demand, so the template was dropped. Wavey and straight are from same period, just a different guy doing the job.

That is cool bit of history. I have always been interested in how they did things back then during production. I know sceens/templates are easier to use nowadays, but I could see if they didn't have a form fitting one, it would have been harder to set up for general labor. I could see a worker though getting a little creative in there work with waving the tiger stripes . I guess my guess was spot on then with them losing the sceens/templates to speed up production though ;-).

Crazy thing is that many toys are still painted by hand, over some of the more robotic nature that you would normally think of today .

Ahhh - I never tire of the that video. Such Palitoy goodness. Yet still, I find myself shouting at my PC at the end as that little jabronie in his parka walks straight past the :AFLogo: to the Star Wars!! "Buy some AF damn it".

And that old lady who walks away - "buy the grandson an OB1!!! Go on - he'll love you for it!"

And I think that this might be the first time these shots have actually been shown anywhere, but after some extensive research in my lunch break, the likes of which Dave Tree would be pproud of, I've located some long lost shots of Palitoy's Boardroom:-

(wait for it)
