GW Paint
Tried using GW paint over the weekend on a custom Skeletron (again) and was pleased with the results but found it chips very easily despite 3 or 4 coats and some protector on top... DOes anyone have any tips?

Re: GW Paint
only reason im using them is they have a particular shade I wanted or ill stick to humbrol which I rarely have problems with...
the reason i used three or four is that one is usually never enough to prevent paint rub on customs and when two wasnt enough in this case I tried 3 or 4 which still isnt enough to prevent chipping...

Re: GW Paint
with GW paints it helps to really water down the paint and do loads of thin coats.
i varnish every couple of coats but honestly dont know if that makes a difference.
i use GW paints as they are the only paints i have easy access to but hate goin into the shop to buy it.
the guys that work there really creep me out

Re: GW Paint
I agree, went in with the missus the other day to get her some paints for some Discworld miniatures she got and some smelly oik creeped up beside me and said "what are you painting?" as his halitosis made my nose hairs curl. He then "advised" me on a few sets (I knew exactly what I wanted before I went in, a basic starter set of paints) and then another guy at the counter tried to upsell me a to a different set that was £8 more and didn't have the colours we needed. They're even worse than those weirdos who work at the Disney store as "Greeters"

Re: GW Paint
Thanks - never go in the GW store anymore as I hate being "chatted to" by them or asked questions about what im doing as unless I lie it inevitably leads to more questions or more unwanted advice... Dont mean to be rude, I do need advice quite often but prefer to ask for it...

In fairness the ones at my local one (Meadowhall) are actually quite helpful when asked for advice, but otehr than that jsut sell you waht you want. Saying that three things tend to be in my favour:-
1. I tend to have a beard when I go in, which puts their often whispy examples to shame, so instant respect is due
2. They seem to be glad to have someone in there who isn't 10, and left to play in the store whilst mum goes off clothes shopping;
3. I tend to have our lass with me, so they all go shy at being in the presence of a girl.

Re: GW Paint
we didn't have a GW store exactly, it was a Cyberdyne which sold sh*t loads of GW gear. the second manager left there and became assistant manager at the newsagents i work in. his replacement was alright, but the guy who replaced him was a speccy twonk with a sh*t beard. one time i was in there browsing the 40K books. I put one back and picked up this Imperial Guard 'showcase' book (loads of photos of peoples IG armies) and after a few minutes, speccy calls over and asks if i had my library card. i went 'what?' and so he claimed i'd 'been reading that for the last ten minutes'. i said 'no i haven't' and walked out. i only went in there once after that at the AM's behest to get something he'd got put aside.
speccy whispy-bearded twat.
