Mine used to do that after it had been switched on for an hour or so, it turned out to be the fan that was clogged with dust so it wasnt kicking in so my pc was overheating.

You'd be amazed how much weirdness dust can cause. I advise carefully disassembling every single piece and running a clean, fluffy make-up brush over everything. You may need to remove a panel from your graphics card to get all the crud out (mine has TEENY screws).

If, once you've reassembled you're no better off, feel free to pop over with it tomorrow and I'll have a crack. Sadly most of these things are hands-on, I could post a million suggestions before hitting lucky.

Yep, you'll need to run a brush over all of your circuit boards. Good news is it's an easy fix.

Brushes can cause static electricity charges, causing harm to electronic components. I would recommend compressed air for cleaning electronics. If you have a compressor (airbrushing), use that, otherwise buy compressed air in a can from local computer shop.

And keep it clean from now on! Dusty components heat up and can short circuit or catch fire. I clean my PC every 6-12 months.

I'm guessing after four years and three house moves mine might benefit from a clean too by the sounds of things. That could explain why it tends to crash when asking it to do the incredibly complex task of opening an Internet browser, unless it's had chance to have a good think about it first!

So, if I'm not mistaken, I just pull of them clumsy looking wires out of it, pop them to one side and then hoover it yeah? Or ram the hoover nozzle in the CD drawer and whack it up to full power? :-D

Its probably riddled with Trojans, Steve. They say that its an MPEG of Kelly Brook having it away in stockings but when you double-click you unleash a whole heap of virusy trouble for your PC. A nasty trojan starts opening lots of ports while you sit there looking stupid with your dick in your hand. Not speaking from personal experience mind.
