VARIANTS...

Post by steve »

Ok folks, continuing the theme of variants lets try and work out exactly what variants people have got so we can attempt to produce a definitive list.

For carded figures please state what card they are on, ie UK wave 1, UK Wave 2, European Wave 2. Wave 1 cards have the figures and vehicles on the back, Wave 2 just has the expanded vehicle range.

Ok oddities Ive got are:
:D Space Patroller - Wave 1 Card with SA80 + UZI
 Space Pilot - Wave 1 Card with Orange Boots
:P Baron Ironblood - Wave 1 Card with White Gloves instead of black

Oddities Ive got images of are:
:) Space Security Trooper - Wave 1 Card with SA80 + UZI
 Baron Ironblood - Wave 2 European Card with White Gloves + Star Wars gun (instead of black gun + uzi)
 SAS Attack Trooper - Mounted on Wave 2 European Card SAS Commando Card + Equipment - This is probably a mistake not a variation, but is it common?
:? Z Force Jammer - 3 Different painting schemes (obviously not carded)

Oddities I know of (but never got pictures of):
 Black Major with different rifle to standard AK47
:P Z Force Infantryman with redpacks instead of black
:? Red Shadow with black gloves instead of red

Vehicle Oddities (IMAGES NEEDED)
8) Z Force Jeep + Driver with Black Packs instead of red
:P Space Force Cosmic Cruiser + Pilot with orange boots instead of blue
:D Space Force Triad Fighter + Pilot with blue boots instead of orange
:P SAS Panther Jeep - Variations in Roll bar colour between yellow and black.
:o Shadowtrack with standard Redshadow (red gloves instead of black)

:?: Anything else Ive missed?
It's good to be back

The White YPS Gun/SA 80, I got one with the Af9 + Arctic Figure Pack back with the original Action Force Release. The AF9 Figure differed from the standard Mountain + Arcitc by being plain white as opposed to blue/white camo. Never seen a blue version though.

variants

forgive me if Im being dumb but I am new to the site and as the Action force range must be one of the biggest toys with so little documentation its hard trying to find answers, I have two figures in my collection that seem a bit different.

I have the wave 1 US para, but with a small green parachute harness, I have the full size parachute figure and the harness is different. I did get this figure secondhand so I guess it could be from the later AF range

Also I have an SAS commando which should be from wave 2 except it looks different from all the other variants of the SAS commando I have (inc boat patrol etc).
This one I got before wave 2 was released, my local sweet shop was giving figures away free as a promotion with every purchase of Battle Comic (I think) .

This figure seems to have exactly the same molding as the wave 1 green version but in black, In fact he resembles the pic on the front on the wave 1 card than the original green commando does.

Any ideas? I can suply a pic if needed.

Did the artic assault figure featured on the back of the first release cards ever get released, this looked much better than the one I have which seems to be based on the Action Man Special Teams range.

I have never seen one, so maybe it was just a preproduction model, has anyone managed to get hold of any of the prototypes?

It seems the moulds were changed prior to series production, as that version does not seem to have made it onto sale.

I dont know what happened to the prototypes, they dont come up on the market at all. Weve seen production tests and mouldings tests of standard figures (but unpainted) and also strange combinations of unpainted parts, but no real prototypes.

The only hope Im holding out on is the Leicester museum, cant wait for them to get their toy collection listing online.
