Desert Shadows

Post by Malcolm Orr »

Based on my Shadow from 'Born in Blood' here's two Desert Shadows (the colours are reversed here though but it seems to be a better colour scheme)

The Temple Guard figure from Indy is about £3-49 at TRU at the moment. The face was cut off and shadow masks sculpted onto the figure, then using black milliput the headscarves were added. Painting them tomorrow!

Fantastic stuff :)
Are you putting the slit eyes on the masks?

Thanks. Yes I'll be adding the slit eyes. You can't really tell from the pic, but the width, depth and angle of the masks are pretty much matched to the original head, so the colour of the mask and the eye details are hopefully going to match those. The Red Shadows logo will possibly have two Arabian swords replacing the bones underneath the skull.

Thats what I love about your customs is the intricate attention to detail, you must have the hands of a surgeon to paint the way you do.

Must be my problem, being in the catering department, battering fish etc
Bit heavy handed in the paintbrush department.
Nothing a couple of beers won`t sort out though :)

Cheers guys.

Funnily enough there's a lot of customs of mine that hit the bin because I'm not happy with them. I am probably far too anal I think LOL.

I enjoyed surgery, but didn't follow that path. In real life it's so specialised you end up doing maybe 4-5 different operations over and over.

Great Customs Malcolm (could I order one!?)
Here's my Desert Shadow, as mentionoed on 'Chopper's' WIP posts. I owe him a debt of gratitude for the idea to put the white 'eyes' on the goggles (I had them all black)
