New Variant Fun - ATC & Swordfish
New Variant Fun - ATC & Swordfish
Couple of interesting things have popped up onto my radar recently - both figures and vehicles.
I'll do vehicles first, and start a separate thread for figures.
First up, the Z Force ATC.
Going through the archive for something, when I noticed that the back end of the ATC is different from mine.
The archive shows that the moulded pickaxe and sledgehammer at the back have been painted silver:
http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/toys/00 ... es/008.jpg
My ATC has them uncoloured, that is, the same green as the rest of the body.
I've had the ATC since I was a kid, so I know it's not been messed with.
Next up, the Q Force Swordfish
The example shown in the archive has a black MMS launcher attachment for the missiles:
http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/toys/00 ... es/007.jpg
But I scored one the other day that has a grey MMS attachment, the same as that shown on the side of the box.
Not huge differences, obviously, but large enough to warrant attention, and it seems that no one has noticed them before.
Here are my examples for comparison.

Re: New Variant Fun - ATC & Swordfish
The arc didnt come from the baron did it? He painted lots if bits silver on his childhood toys so he knew whose was whose when playing with his red shadow pals. A hyena and swordfish i bought from him have the same thing. Lots of other bits do too. Have you posted about the dark / light green atc colours? Buddusky mentioned it to me the other week. Light or dark green atcs but the turrets all have the same green.
I have 50/50 black and grey missile racks on my swordfishes. Thought id mentioned that one before ages ago as id only had black ones to that point.

Ok, that might make sense. The painted example in the archive may well belong to the Baron. In which case, case solved. I guess he will be able to confirm soon enough.
Grey/Black Swordfish racks - I don't remember you posting about this, though I may well have missed it.

Dark versus Light ATC colours?
Wait, what now?
Do you have any examples?

Re: New Variant Fun - ATC & Swordfish
So, pics attached of ATCs. Ive three complete, two light green and one dark green. Another custom one complete and two other spares for customs, all of which are light green. I thought this colour cariation was common knowledge? The thing I didnt notice and which Buddusky pointed out to me the other week is that no matter what shade variation you have on the ATC, the turret is always the darker green.
I think its the same on the Command Centre as mine is a dark green to match the darker ATC but the other I had (maybe on its way to Chopper?) was (im pretty sure) a lighter green. Not sure if the colour difference on the command centre is tied into the change of camo pattern between smoother and jaggedy shapes.

Interesting!
No, not common knowledge... well, unless you buggers all knew, and decided not to tell me...

I noticed ages ago trying to piece together matching coloured caopies and cockpits, one of those things I thought was too obvious for a man who likes to hunt for nipples on gas masksHopper wrote:Interesting!

But you forget, I am a poor man who likes to hunt for nipples (not exclusively on gas masks... anywhere really!)
Thus, I have only ever seen and touched one ATC... two ATCs would be an extravagance!
That's the problem with this variant hunting lark - it's all comparative, and if you've nowt to compare it to...
We should all have a swap meet - get together, bring all your AF bits, and have a good look at each other's bits.

When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
Re: New Variant Fun - ATC & Swordfish
He did indeed paint them silver as it (the APC) now resides in my collection. I believe he did the same thing with his Escape Armour too.The Kraken Wakes wrote:The arc didnt come from the baron did it?
