1/72 Latest Acquisitions - Battle of The Hedgerows
1/72 Latest Acquisitions - Battle of The Hedgerows
Just arrived through my letterbox and very happy too - takes me back!
A complete 1/72 Matchbox US Infantry in box!
So I thought I'd share the "Battle of The Hedgerows" c.July 1944, Normandy, south of St Lo. (ok, I know it's my front room, and my table, and the figures are plastic, but pretend you are 9 again!)

Absolutely adore these old Matchbox soldiers.. they seem to have much more 'personality' in the sculpting, even if they're less accurate, than the Air-fix figures.

Yes, I had some lovely German infantry as a child, with a mortar team - very nice and thanks for sharing.

Nice setup! Especially like the person lying on the "beach".
I cannot imagine being on those beaches....how those soldiers (boys, actually) must have felt....June 6 is really unforgettable.

Things of beauty. I wish I knew where my big box of 1:72 and 1:35 had gone! Maybe it still lurks in my parents house, awaiting discovery. I had a couple of nice Britains German bikes and the Britains German motorbike and sidecar. I see these now command fairly hefty prices on eBay. Always remember a lovely Corgi Quad, Limber and 25pdr

Yes, that's the one T'shot. I wish I could remember what happened to it. I can remember what happened to most of my favourite toys, but what happened to this and the rest of my toy soldiers seems to have been erased from my memory!
