Latest Aquisition

Post by The Black Major »

My latest eBay buy. A few stickers need replaced, but not sure now whether to keep it as Cobra or re-badge it as a Red Shadow Hyena. Either way, I'll be buying both sets of stickers from Paul at Vintage Star Wars Collectables.

Thoughts and opinions?

Depends if you want one of each variant I suppose? Perhaps keep this one Cobra and if one day you come across a shabby Red Shadow version then you'll have the sticker sheet ready to go for a re-furb.

Either way, it's an attractive beast. I really must get around to picking up one of those puppies myself!!

I'd keep it as :cobra: too, as it's pretty hard variant to find.
More news, as its made, from new Action Force!

I'd change it to Shad, the Red Cobra Hyena is a hybrid...Red = Shad, Black = Cobra.

I don't collect pass series 2 but I think you should keep as is. Better keeping original stickers and picking up a Hyena later on.

I'm in agreement with Jon on this it is only a cobra Hyena if black, so I would go for some shadow action.

I agree with Jon and Eddie, Red = Shad, Black = Cobra.

I've still got my original Hyena from way back when. If I had an original sticker sheet or even if VSC sold the repro sheet pre-cut, it would be a no brainer, but it does look in really good shape and original. Maybe I'll keep it as it is and have it side by side with my shad version. Could always put Destro in it for a 'before and after', until I make up my mind.

Shaun and T'shot are right on the money for me and that's exactly what I did. Finding a Hyena with intact stickers is hard. I got my original red Cobra Hyena off SteveD many moons ago, cleaned it up and decided to keep it. Its a lot harder to come by. Later I just got a Red Shadow one and replaced the missing stickers. Win-win, one of each variant. Also got a 25th General Lee HISS to add to the Cobra army too.

I'm starting to think that could be the way to go, keeping it original.

Might get a couple of black HISS Tanks from eBay and convert one to an AF era Hyena and either have the other in Joe Cobra decals or maybe even covert it to Red Shadows too. Would be perfect for my Joecon Black Major, now that I think of it.

This could be quite expensive!!
