Silver Striker & Airfield Support Vehicles
I've had this in my head for 2 - 3 years, since I bought the shell. Thanks to Navy Viper and Momaw Nadon (who sadly no longer posts) for supplying spares over time. Also Humby, who gave me some aircraft kit transfers a while ago, some used here.
The idea was for an homage to classic 1950s jets, so it is sprayed aluminium (though it does look greyer than I’d planned). Black and green edging to the wings and body, give highlights. I got fed up of paint bleed while spraying the black, so the green is stickers, sprayed the correct green and applied prior to varnishing. That worked reasonably well, though wasn’t without its problems.
I removed the normal figure back peg from the seats, so that I can seat my Palitoy pilots inside. My wife helped with elasticated seat straps, with small press stud buckles, which look fairly effective I think. I’ve also added part of a damaged radio pack (upside down) to the rear of the pilot’s seat. I'll probably lose the seat covers (old TIE Fighter stickers!), which I just wanted to cover the hole left by the figure peg being removed.
Included for diorama depth are some airfield vehicles – a tractor unit, with quick custom Ground Crew figure; that generator unit from an earlier post (I’d planned it to go with this set); and the wheeled armature used to push aircraft around (using elasticated cord and press stud to connect to the front wheel of an aircraft). The armature isn’t in the end quite long enough – doh!
Hope you like them . . .

Very nice indeed! Got yourself another COTM here!

Brilliant work mate love all of it. Far too late now but if you ever want to get an aluminium effect there is a sheet material that modellers use for 1950 era jets. I've also heard of tin foil being used. This website is good for tips and ideas:

When I read your description I didn't think the silver was going to work especially for z force but that is stunning!
Pilots, crew, etc......just stunning!

A masterpiece.
Re: Silver Striker & Airfield Support Vehicles
They just get better and better! Totally amazing, the aircrew, the ground crew and equipment just everything!
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
