It comes all assembled now which isnt so much fun but maybe you could post some stuff back to yourself? It doesnt cost that much via airmail compared to prices I get quoted. Or maybe just ditch all your clothes...

Was hoping to do that Baron, but I've already got quite a shopping list to get, plus there's going to be all the presents that the little fella's grandma in the states has bought him (considering what we've apparently got to bring back for him, with all that she's bought, I surprised there's any kind of economic crisis at the moment!). I said that he liked Star Wars and G.I. Joe, but for some reason nobody believed me...

Got back from the States last Wednesday. Of the Joe 25th Anniversary range, picked up the HISS Tank, the SHARC, the VAMP, the RAM/Cobra Flight pod set and individually carded figures of Scarlett, Cobra Commander (wonder who I'm considering repainting these two as?) and Storm Shadow (who I opened up, as his card got mutilated in transit). Comparing the HISS tank to my red 1983 AF Hyena, the only differences are some imprinted pattern on the back of the drivers seat, the smaller pegs on the back step for the new figures and (rather predicatably) a copyright date of 2004. The stickers are easily peelable, but I'm kinda liking the look of it as it is. If anything, the SHARC is the one I might re-sticker as the Joe stickers on it are pretty bland. The VAMP was the nicest surprise. I thought the shovel on the bonnet looked familiar when I was looking at it in the box - it's actually appears to be the Cobra Stinger tweaked to look more like the old VAMP! The Cobra Flight pod was always my least favourite vehicle as a kid, the engine on my old one kept falling off every 2 minutes and you just had to look at the thing for it to fall apart. The new one is a lot more sturdy and the enginess stay on a lot better, and what's more, they are now kept on by a post and peg attachment, so you can plug the post into the back of a figure and give him a funky jet backpack! The RAM cycle is pretty spot on (especially now it has added handlebars!) but the Breaker figure that came with it sucks, it's really pliable and gangly (a bit like the figures from those Build to Rule lego-like sets from a few years ago), and mine appears to be missing his headset, but luckily I have my old crotchless Quarrel on hand to pulll the throttle ;-)

Only other AF related happening on the holiday was the Mrs showing me a Myspace page for her ex, and there he was dressed up as Cobra Commander - I kid you not!

I'll bet she wondered what the hell she got herself into ;) Sounds like a good holiday and a good haul, haven't been down to the local TRU for a while so I think I need to pull finger now. The 25th Hyena also has 3 lugs on the turret, the original only has 2.

Which colour Hyena did you get? The black general lee one?

If the black one with '001' on the side be the General Lee one (there's no confederate flag on the roof, but I take it that be a reference to the Dukes of Hazzard?), that's the one I got. Interestingly, the 001 sticker on mine is upside down on one side! Hadn't noticed the three lugs on the turret, so well spotted there!

I suspect this will be my last big haul for a while. We got severely ripped off by a cowboy builder a few months back (the work was so bad that the 'Cowboy Builders' TV show is interested in our story) and it's cost a small fortune to put the work right, taking all the savings we had for our wedding along with it. Plus the missus is going back to work next month so we're got to start paying out for chilldcare. I was hoping to get the Serpentor/Armadillo set, but nowhere I went to had it. Oh well, I guess there's always ebay near birthday time.

Plus the Mrs goes back to work next month so that will mean paying out for childcare now. I was hoping to pick up the Serpentor/Armadillo set but no stoires I went to in the US had it. Sorry about the double post there. The sprog grabbed the mouse whilst I was posting and everything went haywire! He's screaming his head off in his playpen now as punishment, looking lovingly at the Black Hyena he'll get to play with when he doesn't try to chew every toy we give him to play with!

Sorry to hear it mate, hope things improve for you and I know what you mean re-kids. My lad has a fondness for lifting my AF's and placing them on his dressing table. Secretly I hink its cool, I used to do the same with my Dad's Triang trains ;)
