When we were children, we didn't have enough money to buy big TFs. Our collection was mostly made of minibots and combiner limbs. There still were some bigger guys, but a lot of time passed before we got the main guys (Optimus Prime and Soundwave).
Well, we still try to buy the cheaper versions of each character, and use a bit of "repurposing" if neccessary (Armada OP as G1 OP, Movie Booster X10 as G1 Laserbeak, etc).
About the list, I also forgot the Headhunters and Iron Grenadiers.

The Dreadnoks count if and just if they have been separate from

at some point (the Iron Grenadiers were a separate faction for their initial appearances in the comics, and the Headhunters were shown as another faction in both comics and TV). If not, they would be like the Protectobots, who had their own base but still were part of the main Autobot force.
That made me remember that the Combaticons were renegade Decepticons at some point, so they should also count...

As depicted in Dreadnoks Declassified by DDP they weren't always allied to Cobra

Then they count. As the topic title says, the universe gets bigger...

Although never released as a toy, the Black Major's renegade Red Shadow army made several comic appearances.
