Yeh this approach sure did put off a lot of US fans. Some of the US Joe fora in the run up to the movie release contained so many vile comments regarding GI Joe depicted as no longer a solely American team. Add to that several thinly-veiled racist remarks regarding Breaker's nationality. Quite sickening to read, really.

GI Joe's been international since 1988 or so when Taurus, Backstop and Skymate appeared...

I hope the moderators took action? Racism is unacceptable behaviour.

Was Breaker listed as from Munich in the Joe World? If so I can guess at the type of racism.

Munich is, however, an absolutely beautiful city - one of my favourites I've been to. And the Hoffbrauhouse is just awesome! Sad to think of the hatred that was stirred up there, but now it's an ace, friendly place to enjoy several Steins. Last time I was there I had a very memorable night with me and the intended Mrs D being plied with copious amounts of schnapps as chasers to our strong Bavarian beer by a German Hen Party! :-D Happy days!!

ARAH Breaker's a Yank. Movie Breaker is a French-Morroccan. I imagine it was the Franco-Arab part that caused much 'hilarious' racism.

Completely agree with Dave Tree. Hasbro and Tesco did the exact same thing with the new Action Man range, half price at launch and now they're shelf warming at 25% RRP. There were only 4 or 5 items in the range as well which didn't help either.
However £8 is still far too much for a 3 3/4" action figure, especially for an under promoted film. Star Wars can kinda get away with it though as they have the adult collector base whereas Joe hasn't got such a large base. I know I've basically contradicted myself there but it seems like Hasbro UK had resigned themselves to the fact the Joe stuff wouldn't sell before it was even released and just tried to sell as much as they could instead of actually promoting the line with large in store displays and TV ads.
