Brandon Jerwars Original Idea for the RED SHADOWS ----big thanks to Joe battle lines and Fred Meyer who orginally posted it about a year ago
ISSUES 48-50 “Dominion Day†(Nov-Jan)
Six months pass over these three issues. These are three issues of all-out war between the Joes and Cobra as the newly-reinstated team tries to drive Cobra out of as many countries as they can. The centerpiece of this will be the true story of Cobra Commander….detailing his life as an assassin for The Red Shadows, an organization much more subversive than Cobra. Instead of a military group, we should play them as a high-tech sort of “shadowy council†at first. They can be a big threat later on; I’d rather see them as puppet masters for the whole thing.
The Commander thought he could escape the Shadows and live a normal life after faking his death, but then was driven to the brink of madness when his American Dream failed him. After spending quite a while with these men, he helps them eliminate his wife (no witnesses) and then the resolution is left in question…did they get to him? Did he escape? We don’t know, but we do have a fair idea of how powerful the Red Shadows are…and we’re pretty scared.
Also, the Baroness gives birth and Scarlett makes an honest man out of Snake-Eyes.
If I’m writing beyond issue 51 (and I really hope I am), I would like issue 51 to start almost a year later…with Cobra Commander in charge of Cobra, but the Red Shadows would have risen to power as well…who is he loyal to? The Joes have a new base, new smaller team structure and a new playing field for their fight…
