I just got today Essential Avengers volume 7 so I now have issues 1-163 of volume 1 of the Marvel series in my book case.

Excuse my ignorance here, but who are the West Coast Avengers then?
I've remember seeing the title advertised in the Marvel subscription offers & forth coming releases section of old Joe comics.

The West Coast Avengers were exactly what it says on the tin: a West Coast branch of the team, led by Hawkeye (the team's archer and a general fan-favourite). Most of them were former members of the main Avengers team, but there were also some new members like Mockingbird (Hawkeye's wife). The team later disassembled and some members were approached by Iron Man to create Force Works (technically, an "extreme" version of the WCA, they appeared in the old Iron Man TV series).
