Restoring Figures

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, and I've looked to see if this question has been asked before but couldn't see anything. So if it has been asked and I've missed it, then I apologise.

I've got a load of Pailtoy AF figures which need a bit of attention, and I want to try to restore them to somewhere near their former glory. The problem is I have no clue where to start;
I'm not sure what paints to use, if I should use an airbrush, normal brushes or both. I'm not entirly sure about he whole procedure from start to finish.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or share a bit of wisdom with me?

Also, does anyone know where I can get weapons for figures too?

Try www.marauderinc for realistic weapons Nobunaga and welcome to the site. I myself use Games Workshop Citadel range of paints you don't need thinner just some water and your brush they also do washes and some inks still.

If you're looking to clean up the figures, then warm soapy water and a toothbrush would probably do the trick. I do know that some of the guys have had success in re-whitening figures using peroxide.

For repainting check out the "FAQs, WIPs & Tips" section of the Customs forum, that's where the ongoing "which paint?" thread lives.

If you're after authentic Action Force weapons, post a Wants list in the Trade section, somebody here can probably help you out - it's also worth keeping an eye on ebay. However, if you just want to army build, then I recommend you check out http://www.marauderinc.com/servlet/StoreFront

Hello! ooo - Harrogate - it's nice in Harrogate - I nearly moved there once, anyway, I'm rambling already - WELCOME ABOARD!

Post up a wants list for any weapons you need when you get a chance - I'm sure we'll all be able to help you out a bit with some - I was jsut rummaging in my spares box this morning and there is all sorts in there. I also concur with Ironblood - I use Games Workshop paints for my customs, but they are not a 100% perfect colour match for restorations, so take care with them at first.

This website is run by one of the members on here : http://www.action-figure-supplies.co.uk ... parentid=2 I have used it loads of times to pick up spares/replacements. As for the painting if you are skillful with an airbrush use it definetley. I use enamels as they are harder wearing than acrylics. Humbrol satincote seals them and gives them a just off the production line look.

I don't strip the old paint of but I do use the Humbrol undercoat. Saying that though I tend to do this mainly with customs. If I want a good condition example of a figure I trade on here or buy off ebay. Post a pic of what you have.

Hi & welcome
I've found WD40's ace for removing old stickers & cleaning up old vehicles, soap & water's best for figures as it's gentler with the more delicate paint applications.
Check out the sites superb toy section, for matching up accessories & seeing which bits are missing from your figures & vehicles as well.

My best advice would to be DON'T bin anything, it's bound to come in handy sooner or later (for repairs or swapping with others).
