The Hooded Commander was a Woolworth's mail away, that's right, but that was during the Hasbro era around 1988/89

I didn't know that dave I was referring to 1982 in the US range both the hooded Commander and Major Bludd were Mail-ins as was the Super Trooper,Steel Brigade and Create a Cobra figure in later years.

That's very true in the US, but I think Squad Leader was being specific to the UK Palitoy range though, rather than the US JOE range releases.

are you sure it was that late dave, i thought it ran from 84 to 90? the 82 cobra commander was bagged and so was the 83 duke and major bludd but that was us release only i think i don't know if the mailaways worked the same in the uk?
CIA got you pushing to many pencils.
Re: what Bagged Action Force figures are there?...
Mine is opened - so can't say for sure - but I reckon duke, cobra and ripcord would be available bagged as part of the action pack. Probably zartan and everyone like that who came with mini boxed vehicles. Bizarrely, cobra escape armour pilot is misb, but with red shadow version the shadow is just sealed in bag with all the rest of the escape armour.

The US mailaways were different promotions to the UK under Palitoy. During the Hasbro Europe era, they were similar, but totally different times as the UK were a few years behind the US in wave releases and assortments.gung-hoeddie wrote: are you sure it was that late dave, i thought it ran from 84 to 90? the 82 cobra commander was bagged and so was the 83 duke and major bludd but that was us release only i think i don't know if the mailaways worked the same in the uk?
Hasbro relaunched the line in the UK in 87 unde the International Heroes tagline. Hooded Cobra Commander was the first mail away, but was retail exclusive to Woolworths as you needed the receipts too. I'm pretty sure it started in January 88 and may have continued through the year, but it was never advertised anywhere else. The Super Trooper and Steel Brigade followed as well as the mini vehicles/ playsets but long after the US.

He may well of been, I remember being miffed when a neighbour was sent an Emporer figure from Palitoy free as part of a marketing promotion of some kind..the same kid also sent off for that cool Bandolier Strap/collectors case from an advert in a magazine, My Rancor Keeper figure came via a Palitoy offer I found in the pages of the Funday Times suppliment, that I'd nicked from my Auntie Jean, I kept the cut-out page as a poster for my bedroom for ages.
