Anyway, here are the first of what I hope to be many Action Force and Red Shadow customs:
First up is Red Jackal. I tried to steer away from the Destro lookalike route as possible, without losing the feel of the character or the nice color pattern.
The t-crotched Destro's head was the way to go. It definitely looks like someone replaced parts of his head with metal parts, and it looks like it's packed with moving parts for facial expressions.
The Cobra Commander body (from 1991, although I used the Indian Funskool version) was picked because of its bulk, and because it had a V-neck thing, sans the collar (although I moved the silver of the collar from that area to the shoulder pads).
The body was just dyed black, with the red and silver details painted on. He retains full playability that way, with no paint wear in the jointed areas.
I'm currently working on a Hyena for him to drive, working from the Triple T as a base, but since I'm as clueless as they get when it comes to vehicle customizing, it's taking a while.
Next up is SAS Force's Stalker:
I actually tried to give myself a challenge with this and use parts no one would EVER think of using for a Stalker custom. The torso is from the original Gung-Ho, with a shirt sculpted on (and a turtleneck added to give it a feel from the original Stalker figure), Lightfoot arms and Barbecue's waist and legs. The head is from a Chap Mei "Extreme Adventures", with the back hair and facial hair trimmed down so he wouldn't look quite as dorky. I really like the little headset piece on that head, though.
Much like with Red Jackal, I'm also working on a new custom jeep for him, but once again it hasn't gone much further than obtaining a base body for it...
That's it for now. I'd like to hear your comments about these since you're the guys who grew up on these characters, not me.
