Ross' Tutorial #1: ritdye
Re: Ross' Tutorial #1: ritdye
just dyed a palitoy leg.........
left it boiling for just a few minutes & cheched on it & it was VERY soft & flexible but appeared quite dark so removed it & washed under cold water.
started off red (dont worry, wasnt a shadow!) & it is now very VERY dark brown, but unless you inspect it it looks black.
i think when you rinse under cold water it is a good idea to make sure the parts are still straight! the problem i forsee with palitoy figures is the torso, it is different plastic so may end up slightly different in color + if it's not stuck together may warp......
also dyed some night creepers black & they look sweet, cant post pics fopr a couple of days as im off work 2mrw & dont have a camera @ home.
am going to try to dye white arah & palitoy figures red soon & will let you know the results!

Nice one Ross !
I find when boiling and popping Palitoy limbs, even after 1 minute in hot water they go really flimsy.
but rinsing in cold water soon gets them back to normal.
I suppose the soft plastic absorbs the dye a lot quicker, so less boiling time needed ? ... good to know !
one other thought ........... could they be dyed cold ? without boiling ?

was thinking about that but it's the heat softening the plastic that makes it absorb the dye, so dont think it would work. i did buy some cold water a while ago if i can find it i'll give it a go........

bloody rivets stayed red, im think the best solution is to touch them up with a permanent marker! havent decided if im going to paint them, or just leave them like this as all the silver parts came out a dark silver/gun metal & look pretty good!

They look great Ross Aleph was meant to be blind but looked silly with a bright orange sash over his eyes your Creepers look like Aleph (Incision) did as a member of The Plague in DDP's WWIII storylineRoss SC wrote:heres a crappy pic of my nice newly blackened night creepers!
