Z Force Infantry body variations

Post by Jimbo »

A couple of pics of the variety you can get just using the four basic figures from wave 1.

Using Infantryman heads on the other bodies gives them a better look as they have the ability to hold weapons properly. In my Action Force 'world' only Z Force Corporals and Skip wear a beret. The one in front with the red peaked cap is Skip's second-in-command, the two by his side are section commanders. Behind them you have the Z Force Armourer (you can't quite see his toolbox) and a mortar specialist. Behind them are just variations of the 'cannon-fodder'!

I never like the fact that the Infantryman had straight arms, so the ones left which I haven't altered yet are used as drivers or support soldiers, like the two below sorting out the fuel (I've just realised I don't like the green bands on the bottom of the red cans, and am going to go and paint them out - sorry for the brief aside!).

Then you have a couple more Infantrymen at the back, and two Urban Warfare specialists in front, the one with the beret the senior one.

Yeah, been doing this for a while now, but unfortunatley all the figures are all looking a bit samey.

Theres only so may times you can use the infantryman's head and not get a Tracker (BAF style) look a like, or use the Skip's head and not have a company of the parachute regiment, and I haven't got enough Scout, Doc or Breaker heads to go around.

Tracker Palitoy style) head is different but then when lined up with SAS-Force, it just appears to be a huge amount of marine hats. why couldn't Palitoy have just given us one more release wave of Z, SAS, Q, Space and shads before giving us AF and Cobra.

Sorry about the rant, everyone, but at home at the moment all bunged up with flu, and missing buying Action Force toys.

Understand what your saying, but I think the fact that they all look similar is appealing. It gives them a uniform, and consequently they look like an army or 'force', without the total uniformity of, say, Red Shadows. This subconciously identifies the difference between a group of the world's best military personnel vs a group of brain-washed nameless terror troops. Interestingly I believe the Geneva Convention only allows Prisoner-of-War rights to soldiers and states the wearing of a uniform as one of the requirements to be a soldier (however as I don't have a copy to hand, I might be talking b&!!&?ks here)!

Back in the real world of Action Force, I've ended up with a dozen or so spare Breakers and I'm using the heads to customise some SAS figures as they all seem to be in WW2 commando hats. But I've used a few US Para figures, Chopper bodies and painted the Tracker heads red to give some variety. Check out:

for some examples.
