Poor germans!

Post by mark »

Has anyone any ideas why in the original action force the germans were so heavily out gunned and under equiped? Action force had the headquarters, modern vehicles and men, and all the germans had were their rifles, grenades and spades! Didnt bother me back then but it seems a bit unfair now. If i was going to bring out a range of toys i would give both sides fairly equal weaponary and men. Perhaps the germans were not supposed to be the enemy, i dunno?

Im not sure that in the original range the germans were supposed to be the enemy? THough im sure most people in this country would have made them so... I thought it was just a range of fighting figures that you could do with as you please?

I think the series one theme was soldiers from around the world, based on existing Action Man uniforms. so there were no teams as such.......

Hmmm yeees... but on the back of the headquarters box it shows a couple of germans in the jail - one of them escaping! You can just about make them out in the archives.

All down to your own imagination and as TKW said in this country the Jerries would be the baddies!
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

I just think that the Palitoy people's mind set was still stuck into a old way of thinking...besides the German stromtrooper was the best selling action man outfit ever, so it made sense for them to make a :AFLogo: one, every one knows that "Jerry" was the enemy in just about every war film & comic of the 60's & 70's..The U.S.S.R. was the real threat @ the time, so it would of been the safe option to make Nazis the identifiable "baddies" cos' all kids knew they'd lost the war in every film they appeared in.
More news, as its made, from new Action Force!
