Reused figures...
Reused figures...
okay, so SteveD's comment the other day about Pallitoy not considering a toy good unless they made at least 2 from it got me thinking...
how many versions of any one figure did they make and did any other than Desert Rat and Aussie Jungle Fighter never get remade from series 1?
I know the 'Mission Pilot' became helo pilot, night attack, Chopper and Sparrowhawk making 5.
Frogman became SAS Frogman, Barracuda, Dolphin and Shark making 5.
were there any more?

Hmm, good one.
Although, take
's hat off, and you may see the head resused once or twice.
and his torso
along with lots of
Not the whole figures, I know, but parts.

Re: Reused figures...
i thought Sniper, Fixer and Lightning were straight repaints of the Mountain and Arctic/Arctic Assault/Ground Assault figure...
i know Naval Assault had the commando's chest, and was repainted for Surfer.
Commando became Quickfire, Stakeout and Tracker. and the head was used for Beaver. who i think had the frogman's body...
Black Major was tan-hat Commander repainted, of course.
the Shad was the German stormtrooper.
am i right in thinking the US paratrooper was the SAS Attack Trooper? ah... head may have been, but the archive says the body and legs were new sculpts...

Depends on what exactly you're asking?Sundance wrote:okay, so SteveD's comment the other day about Pallitoy not considering a toy good unless they made at least 2 from it got me thinking...

Don't confuse repaints with kitbash. ie. Helecopter Pilot is a repaint of Mission Pilot, but Night Attack, Chopper, Sparrowhawk use Mission Pilot parts to create a new kitbash figure.
There are certain figures which have molded parts (or resculpts) unique to that figure, but in most cases they are based on a previous entity. Desert Rat parts are fairly unique in that they were original sculpts not used again, along with the hat from the Jungle Fighter, but in respect to others new parts were molded from previous designs, like the head of the SAS Attack Trooper. That said though, original sculpts were still created up till Series 3 (Kraken, Skeletron, Red Wolf Torso).

Although you're limited with what you can do with the Desert Rat legs, I think the best example I've seen are Andy's Q-Force infantry guys.
Was the torso re-used for the Radio Operator though?
Dave.

No, the radio operator had a similar torso but it has packs and pockets.
