Re: Send Chad to Africa – Custom Figure Raffle
Baron, if this is a problem, you may lock the thread. I am simply trying to raise support. If you don't agree with my cause, I am forcing nothing on you.
Ross, some of my newer customs are better articulated than the older ones. With the RAH joints, it still can be difficult to keep chipping down, but for these customs I will be making a more conscious effort to make them more playable. And though I won't remake exact customs, I am not oppose to doing similar ideas.
As for the off color comments, I purposely did not list the details on this site because of the rules. Army4One.com is owned and run by me, and I apologize for any offenses, but as some of you have noted, we have the right to believe as we choose.

Then you better delete the entire topic, because to me this looks like a fundraiser for a religious event. The Baron wrote:Please, this is a Toys and Comics website. Let's not bring Religion or Politics into it.
If everybody has the right to believe as they choose, then why trying to convert people?chad_ghost wrote:we have the right to believe as we choose.

Re: Send Chad to Africa – Custom Figure Raffle
chipping/paint rub is a difficult one to deal with, my last few customs ive tried to keep the base figures or base parts as near to original as possible which i guess is a copout!chad_ghost wrote:Baron, if this is a problem, you may lock the thread. Re: Send Chad to Africa – Custom Figure Raffle
just checked out army4one.com, very suprised to find a website dedicated to god & joes!
dont really see the connection myself, i dont see why people feel the need to let you know they are a christian!
if you like g.i. joe then cool, but it's a war toy, what does it have to do with religion?!
hi, my name is ross, i like g.i. joes, action force, dogs, & i believe in god but feel maybe he couldnt give 2 craps about insignificant life on earth.
it's like when you meet an american (i have a lot of american customers) & the first thing they tell you (if your lucky they might tell you their name first!) is what political party they follow! "hi, im a republican & my name is jay but i didnt like bush" was the last introduction i had!

Re: Send Chad to Africa – Custom Figure Raffle
The connection is more about people than the two topics. Just like people congregate here because of Action Force, this was a way for me to meet/commune with collectors that are also Christians.Ross SC wrote:just checked out army4one.com, very suprised to find a website dedicated to god & joes!

Also, if anyone would like to discuss this more, please email or pm me. I would rather keep the discussion about the trip off of this board per Baron's request. I've seen raffles on other boards to help support a trip and even a kilt, which gave me the idea. If someone would like a chance to win a custom figure, fine. If someone wants to help me with my trip, fine. If someone finds this a terrible idea, fine. I'm totally comfortable with all of this.

Re: Send Chad to Africa – Custom Figure Raffle
Without going too heavy (esp given the Baron's request not to involve religion) all I can say is that a Christian will see things in these terms..
say you have a cure for a terminal disease, would you offer it to someone to save their lives?
Now Christians believe the cure is Jesus and the terminal disease is original sin. Now, lets just leave the likelihood of the Christian views out for the moment, the point I wish to make is that if a person genuinely believes that someone will die without the cure*, their desire to cure them is, if nothing else, based on good intentions. So whether people agree with Chad or not (and I'm deliberately NOT stating my own view on that issue here), I think it's fair to say that his intentions are good.
(* we aren't talking about whether the belief is 'right' or not because to the person who holds the belief it is pretty much factual to them and I'm debating their intentions, not the underlying theology itself)
As for the scheme itself - selling raffle tickets that expensive for the opportunity to win a potential custom seems unfair. It would be better to sell actual customs, albeit at a higher price. It's also good to inform people where the money is going - after all Chad doesn't want it to look like he's just money grabbing. And to be fair, he posted a link to explain his cause rather than posting the reasons directly here
