Re: a day of ebay cheer
i'll admit my method is flawed but this is what i do, i consider what my maximum bid would be lets say £50 i'll then go in at £30 untill the last few mins then stick my maximum bid in if i don't win then thats it. I lose more than i win. i thought the roboskull was worth going the extra mile as i didn't have one.

I think that's a fantastic haul for a good price eddie! And don't let any bugger tell thee otherwise lad! I'd have gone higher for it with the boxes being there. Don't get me wrong, misb is good and all, but sometimes a nice empty box looks as good as a misb item.

i snipe to if i really want it. I really dont see the point of bidding until the last minute cause it just ups the price!
However on my listings you are all welcome to bid straight away. Dont wait!

Two days before end of auction, bidding is at £38.90. Bookmark the auction, and set your alarm for five minutes before closing.
Let Bidder 2 walk around thinking he is in the lead. Keep your sniper scope trained on his forehead.
Five minutes before end of auction, alarm goes off. Switch on your PC.
Four minutes to go. Put the kettle on.
Three minutes to go. Open up the auction screen on two separate windows. Enter your £90.11 proxy bid in the right hand window, click submit and let the confirmation page load. Left screen displays the countdown, right screen displays the Confirm bid button. Place your cursor icon over the button.
Two minutes to go. Make a brew.
One minute to go. Bidder 7 makes his move, upping the price to £40.90. Too soon, mate, too soon.
30 seconds to go. Put your finger on the trigger.
7 seconds.![]()
2 seconds. Bidder 7 frantically tries to enter another bid. There is no time. Even if by luck he squeezes a round off, he is still outbid by the proxy.
0 seconds to go. Drink your brew of victory. Winning bid £42.90. No anxiety required.

And G-H-E, very nice win!
A fairly good price, imo, but like what 'may' have been mentioned once or twice here, you should have bid differently. You may well have got it cheaper....

Re: a day of ebay cheer
I completed a good portion of my collection by buying larger lots like this. People seem willing to pay a premium for single items. I'd guess a roboskull with box would go for sixty quid plus in the current shadow lovin times. Add to that the other stuff and if sold seperately it'd have gone for loads more.
I used to buy big lots, take out what I needed and sell the rest on. I got loads of stuff relatively cheaply that way.
My problem was actually getting round to selling them, hence some armies are slightly bigger than intended!

true, hindsight is a wonderful thing though, i may have lost the auction, i may have got it for less. I'm just pleased to have won the auction the money is a secondary concern.paul wrote:-

Re: a day of ebay cheer
i used to bid early all the time and would get into bidding wars with people.
i bid early for my roboskull and put £100 as my maximum bid.
these were the days of a big disposable income.
thought i had won it for £14 with about 10 seconds to go.
told the missus about my triumph and did a little victory dance.
came back in to pay for it and it had jumped to £70 in the final seconds.
had a bit of a sh*t fit but was glad i won it.
things are worth only what your willing to pay and my roboskull takes pride of place in my collection.
the missus still thinks i got a bargain, lol.
