Over here you have both: 1.) the collector junkies that have to have everything, including color variations & 2.) the people (like me) that really love the property and enjoy all aspects of it, including the great stories of Battle Action Force, Action Force Weekly and G.I. Joe - European Missions.

Given that a lot of American collectors (the most vocal ones as far as I can see) complain about every new wave released by hasbro, I wonder just how well received a new Action force wave would be in the U.S.?

Also, if there were to be an action force wave of figures would AF collectors prefer the old sculpts or all new sculpts? I wonder if the old molds still exist?

Personally, I'd be happy with new releases of the old sculpt figures (except maybe Muton. There seems to be enough of them still around).

Die hards would collect it, I prolly too. But I don't think they would be much appreciated by children or regular joe collectors. I'm not sure if there are that many AF collectors out there, especially in the States...

Compare it to vintage Star Wars: those who collect have lived in that era. You mainly collect the things you had (or wanted) as a boy.

man after reading this thread (that I have never seen before), do i miss seaneley! I really miss his enthusiasm. I know hes still around on other GI JOE BOARDS but man has he disappeared from these boards or what.

his first post in this thread was really interesting, I always wondered if ACTION FORCE was a seperate property or considered part of GI JOE , good to know that its actually seperate.

I personally would like to see more of the GI Joe figures done as Action Force, This has happened with a few already. Stalker as Jammer, Cobra Commander as Red Laser and so on. Some how i cannot see Hasbro changing there policy on this though, the truth is there is just not a big enough market out there for it. When we were kids we all played with toys but the young now only seem to like PlayStation or x box games. People like us who were fans on the 80's stuff, OK we would buy it but there just aint enough of us. GI Joe don't sell as much as it did 10 years ago here in the UK. Action Force with it's international concept would sell better here in the UK and Europe but would not sell so well in the USA. That leaves doing two versions of the toys, 1 for Europe 1 for the USA. Hasbro brought out palitoy to stop doing two versions in the first place.

Who knows though the new GI Joe movie with it's international theme mite change that. One can only hope.

I really wouldn't be surprised if the toys for the new GI Joe Movie weren't at 3 and 3/4 inch scale, I bet Hasbro make bigger figures just for the film.

The problem over here I believe in selling military toys (which let's face AF is) nowadays is that young people now longer respect (or fear) figures like the police/military anymore. Where as our generation were in awe of soldiers especially the SAS, nowadays kids see drug dealers and other criminals as cool and someone to respect.

The UK was become way too liberal nowadays, sad to say but I can see any change for the better soon. Kids run riot now, not like us who'd spend ages happily playing with toy soldiers.

I would say that the respect people used to have for the military and the police has been turned into fear, and in this climate of patriotic fever and militarised police it's easy to see why. I'm not sure if kids are running any wilder than they used to, or if we just have better media coverage these days. I actually think the country is far less liberal than when I were a tearaway.

I think that computer games are the largest competitor to the toy and comic industries.
