Wanted: Bob Brechin!

Post by paulitoy »

-

Just read this on an Action Man forum:

yes. Bob Brechin IS a nice man!! met him at an AM
Convention in Coalville in '95? gave me blueprints to
the Action Force Roboskull (his design!) let me mess
around with the original gripping hand brass mold and
happily chatted Actiion Man all night!

So, this Bob Brechin fella is active in the AM world, attends shows, etc.

AND, he was obviously heavilly involved in AF!

Man, we need to contact this fella, and submit a list of qu's.

Surely one of us could pay him a visit and have a wee interview for the forum.

Anyone able to find him, I'm guessing he used to live in Coalville in the early '80's...

Dave Tree's way ahead of you... I wonder if Mr. Brechin was responsible for the signature on Jonesy's alternative Roboskull blueprint?

Notice it's drawn by "Boff" Brechin?

These roboskull plans could be the same as was given away by Brechin at the '95 AM convention?

Maybe that's where they come from?

The fella might have had a batch made up as freebies?

Paul, Bob Brechin was indeed heavily involved in AF! In fact, much more than that! He was the lead designer and responisble for the entire line!

Before that, he worked on the Action Man line, then moved to head up "Action Force".

A few years ago I had the pleasure and honor of corresponding with him, and I did a long telephone interview with him for my book. Great guy and awsome information!

I mentioned to Steve the other day that I will try to dig out his email address (it's on a backup CD somewhere :-) and send some more questions his way.

I'll be sure to tell him about this forum and this thread!

Take care,
Aire

Oh also... I highly recommend the book:

"ACTION MAN: The Official Dossier"
Compiled by Ian Harrison

Bob Brechin was a major contributor to that book and wrote the Foreword.

Lots of great information!

It's a very good book.

Have been working my way to Bob via other contacts, who are of equal interest too (and featured in that book oddly enough).
Bob was pivotal in both Action Man and Action Force, however is not as active on convention circuits as he was previously back in the 90's.

Watch this space hopefully.

Dave.

My copy arrived today too. Just had a quick skim through it bu the section on the SAS caught my eye. The Strawberry smelling stuff, but in particular the end of line toys that clearly were the starting block for our own :sas: . Would loved to have seen the SAS Underwater attack.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
