It' the late issue Royal Marines Artic + Mountain set..it took me years to find a nice clean & complete outfit..it's the one I always wanted as a child..
Now I'm on the look out for the late issue U.S machine gunner, one uniform I did have as a kid..& wrecked.

I have about 10 near complete uniforms, tho the Toltoys ones were different to the Palitoy ones. A lot of the ones I have, suffered. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Its like a mint guitar. you gotta ask what's wrong with it? It really go used. Those battles were massive. Guy Fawkes night was usually very punishing on the poor buggers

Alan Hall at Modellers Loft for all the good he's done by making the repro range under licence from Hasbro really has done a crap job. The waves and quality of items is so varying. Compared to the Palitoy originals they lack the same quality and are on the whole flimsier....The prices were good on Halls stuff but the quality overall was sh*t in my view....and Alan Halls a really arrogant c*nt....

I don't see anyone else willing stumping up the cash, time, effort and project managing the whole thing?

Slight differences may be deliberate to tell the difference between original and 40th. If anything, in my view, there should be more markings to highlight they are 40th. Within 5-10 years I can see many people trying to pull a fast one.

As for the varing quality, Palitoy produced dolls for over 10 years, it was the number 1 selling toy, so the investment was there to back it up and the infrastructure. 40th are only through specialist channels, they didn't even hit Toys R Us, the production run is far lower, so there are going to be a few differences.

If you didn't like these, well you can't please everyone, but they are a dammed sight better than what the Hasbro alternative was, a Gentile Giant like cold-cast resin bust with a reproduction head for each colour and generation of the line. I'm sure that would have caused more moaning.

I've never met Alan Hall - and I've heard that he isn't one of nature's most natural talkers - but he's done me a hell of a favour creating the 40th anniversary stuff, so I'm hugely respectfull of what he's done.

Infact, he's probably a bit fed up of people asking him the same AM-related questions about the whole 40th project. I know in my job I start off enthusiastic, but when I'm asked the same question for the 20th time my enthusiasm and response dips somewhat.

This guy must hear the same comments/remarks all the time!

I've never met Alan Hall - and I've heard that he isn't one of nature's most natural talkers - but he's done me a hell of a favour creating the 40th anniversary stuff, so I'm hugely respectfull of what he's done.

He's fine, he used to buy a lot of loose Star Wars clone figures off me for the shop. I think anyone who undertakes the number of projects he has done deserves respect, from the various books to the AM40th, if anything, he is very modest about it. Sadly though, when you pull off an achievement, sometimes it does attract the odd negative comment, as you can't please everyone all the time.
I've previously received similar for the Palitoy work I've done. My response was 'ok, lets see your effort then as the more the merrier' and strangley enough, that's the last you hear of it. It is so much easier to have an opinion on something, rather than DOING something.

crikey, well, not much can be said there

Damn! I missed all manner of goings on over the weekend didn't I! Hopefully peace, tranquility, and total random funness is now restored to our lovely Forum! SF1744389432095023456340403 seemingly got the Forum equivelant of one of Baron's bullets for such insolence!

And the Wikipedia explanation of Daisychaining had me in hysterics, trying to explain it in a very logical way!

Oh, and for what it's worth - my views on the new Action Man stuff - it should never have been allowed to happen.

We all know how weak my resistance to new toys is, and particularly excellent ones such as these. This Alan chap should have had respect for that and not recreated some of my favourites, so as to be nice to me, and avoid my encountering temptation.

I have now, on four occasions, wandered into the Modellers Loft at Meadowhall and stood drooling at the cabinet, only to be found by the other half ten minutes later mumbling away randomly about "resisting temptations" and "regretting the lack of space/money for new collections". I tend to get led away with a promise of a slice of pizza and a glass of coke in the Oasis....

Resistance is Futile..... I gave in at the weekend! Spent a lot of time last night looking too, thinking right if I don't win this from ebay I'll but the following AM figures! But I did win a MOC Ripcord (the series three thing has got me a bit now too!) from Canada which didn't cost the earth (23 quid inc shipping!!) So off to the Modellers Loft site for me.

Oooo - good bargain on the Ripcord. Although I'm sure Dave Tree would have rather you bought his! Series 3 is also evil. My only consolation is I started with it before some others, so was able to get some before the prices went big.

Action Man resistance is weakening. Especially as both Paul's have now given in. Hmmmm, maybe if I just have a quick look at the Modellers Loft website.

I'm getting Cylon based dejavous here (for those following my personal tussle with BSG resistance, I now only need Adama & Ovion to complete series 1!).
