Straight limb figures?

Apart from displaying them, does anyone find the lack of posability in the AF figures by Palitoy a tad disappointing?

Sure, theres a retro child like charm I like about them these days for the same fact but I do find it a bit crap that say Night Patrol can only Zieg Heil or hold his MP4 smg in his outstretched arm.....

Anyone agree? Disagree and why?

If the imagination is there then it dosnt matter how articulated a figure is in my opinion.

I found the jointed figures much too brittle and easily broken, plus they looked too "manufactured" to me with all those rivets and joints.

My opinions have changed slightly over time, and im quite partial to a jointed figure or two these days, but My first choice would have to be vintage.

I'll always go vintage, modern figures are great but just don't hold the magic for me..I've always found it interesting how newer figures & toys are getting more like scale models, with added ageing & dirt painted on,yet people who collect vintage stuff want the toys to be as clean & tidy & with no signs of age as possible..

What I personally like about then is they are sturdy, easy to pose/display and they're pretty durable.

Compare them to the 25th Joe stuff.....also, all the detailing on new fangled toy figures can be somewhat off putting. Its the same with all the stuff DID and Dragon peddle in the 1/6th scale stuff....The simplicity of the look and the paintwork is what appeals to me on older Palitoy stuff....

As someone with no interest in playing with these things I much prefer the straight limbs. There's no disguising a rivet or ball joint. The jointed figures are certainly very posable, but the more posable they get, the less they look like people, which is after all what they're supposed to be. The 25th Joe's are a fine example of this. The early jointed Joes 1982-1985 seem o be as far as you can suspend your disbelief. Straight limbed figures are by far and away the best compromise between playability and realism!

COULDNT AGREE MORE! i cant imagine a straight limbed figure diorama in the contest, it would look far too casual!

by the way, who is paul & who are we thanking "god (& the baron) is finally gone!"? im confused......
