Is this a prototype or a sh*t custom?
Re: Is this a prototype or a sh*t custom?
I wonder if this was an early idea for SAS Squad Leader 'Eagle'. We know a lot of the Battle Action Force comics are based upon prototypes, and Eagle was always drawn with a grey hood and no gas mask. Although I guess it's no surprise really as the strip would have looked a bit daft otherwise.

hi guys, thanks to the baron I am here - the owner of the shoe boxes of figures. I can add some more pics of the figures no probs and can ensure you that these were as they were received when I got them around 12/13 years ago. they have just been lying their. To be honest some of the other figures I don't recognise also, never mind the weird grey one.
I don't know about stripping figures down and at a guess would think this would damage the figure but he looks pretty clean, and doesn't stink of chemicals or stripper. his joints are all good and their is no sign of tampering.
feel free to ask for more pics, close ups etc of any of the figs, I will be at comic con BRUM in November if any one wants to chat about/see him in person. and at the derby wargames show this Saturday.
all the best

Welcome Mewton!
And yeah, more pics please. Very interesting stuff you have.
Any more details on the provenance?

This makes sense. The Baron wrote:I wonder if this was an early idea for SAS Squad Leader 'Eagle'. But, if it is a prototype, which it seems, then it dates that particular hand shape as being in the first wave of figures.
Interesting!

My view is it's a prepainted test figure
CIA got you pushing to many pencils.
Re: Is this a prototype or a sh*t custom?
I have photographed him and a few more pics of the other figures.
If I can send the baron the pics he can upload the rest here

Re: Is this a prototype or a sh*t custom?
Excellent stuff.
Nothing too shocking there.
The legs and arms of the German Stormtrooper are more blue than usual.
The green of the Z Force Medic kinda grey, which is odd. Reminds me of a toy colour, but can't remember which one (Star Wars maybe?)
I'll keep studying... see what leaps out!
All of this makes the inclusion of the 'prototype' or whatever all the more odd!

The medics seem to be made in different plastics, one being a lot stiffer the the other.

That could be a wave difference. Notice the protoguy has not been sealed. I take it he can be pulled apart pretty easy?
