You know what?
I am now convinced the 1983 giveaway didn't happen... which means I'm losing my marbles.
It must have been the 1984 giveaway mis-remembered, which has blown my mind!

No mate, same situation though. I scraped up every penny I had, next day I went back with more cash and they were gone. Luckily I had BAF on regular order.

I've noticed with mine that the figure with the BAF comic is in a made in Hong Kong Baggie whereas the figure with the Eagle comic is loose in the bag. I've got two other figures in the Hong Kong bags but no comics (Cap & Sap)

loose in the bigger bag around the comic? Mine has a comic bag and Skip is bagged inside with his accessories.
