I saw the sign...

Post by Chopper »

I did. The 17th annual shed clean is on. Moving and amalgamating boxes of Atari and Amiga stuff I stumbled on a small belt bag. In this belt bag was Han Solo's trench coat, Bib Fortuna's overcoat and Jinx's Naginata. I see it as a sign to get back to ye olde Star Wars figures. I think its time, the last AF figures are becoming sporadic and impossible to find so I think it would be cool to get onto something to keep the interest up.

My AF collection has grown to epic proportions now, I can't move for them or VAM. I do enjoy just looking at them and occasionally playing with them. So why not add a new collection? Or should it be Buck Rogers first?

Anyway, quite chuffed as I thought I had thrown the coats out with my BAF comics. Sob. Here we go again.

That's shocking.. what the hell are were all those fine items doing rotting in a shed when they should be safely in the house getting under everyone's feet?

I knew I still had em, just didn't know where. Although I had thought they might have gone to the the tip in the great "I must grow up" nonsense. Fucken glad I'm over that. I'll be getting the figures to fill the coats pretty soon. Who would have thought 1977 Stormtroopers would be worth so much? First on the list is Walrusman, aka Ponda Baba. Fond memories of Christmas 1977.

Nice one chopper!!

Must be something about the holidays!! I too was tidying out in the loft yesterday and looking at my box of Star Wars thinking "must complete them this year". Here we go again!!!! Should be fun though. Last 17 will be pricey, but as I'm only doing loose hopefully not too bad!!! Got some New Years sales to do first though!!

For Christmas I got a life size cut out of judge dredd "for my toy room". Since the only reason I can buy toys is that the attic has been floored by mrs rages dad to provide a whole lot of storage this further push to force me to have a toy room is gratefully accepted. All I need now is a bigger house and a pile if money. I see your pain . . .

I got the toy room, but it ain't big enough. I had to put the Herc on the roof and I'm a bit worried its going to drop on my head. Well Mr Rage, it seems that your collection will be well on the way to filling it up.

Last 16 ain't it, Steve. ;-)

One word of warning, collecting vintage Star Wars can become an dangerous addiction.. sure you tell yourself "I'll only have one of each character" but you'll soon find yourself looking for major & minor paint variants, then you become obsessive about such nonsense as C.O.O.'s

I was happy owning just one Combat Poncho Leia, then I discovered there's two, very slight, badge sculpt variations...

Just take Darth Vader, for instance, think that there was only one version ever released & it never changed throughout the run?

Think again:

Oh mother f*cker. Which one do I have? Looks like the 4th variant. I went down the variant path with AF (bloody Dawson), I think I will fare a bit better with SW.
