Another value question. How much is a Mobat (1st issue) worth - tatty / bashed box?

Not much from what I have seen. I have 3 and anywhere between 5 and 20 quid seems normal. With Steeler and machine gun, a little more.

Agreed but now that the royal mail has limited small parcels to 8cm height all vehicles are affected cheapest you can post a vehicle with royal mail is £5.65 and they have down graded insurance to £20.00.
I prefer to use Hermes for UK through Interparcel it's cheaper and it's tracked so less chance of it going awol unlike royal mail, I sent a parcel to france and buyer queried why it couldn't go royal mail rather than tracked which sent alarm bells off but at least it got there and they can't claim they never received it.

I'm bloody happy my collection is where it is now, UK postage has gone to the dogs. The smallest parcel I can send to the UK now is about $16us.

. . . on the subject of increasing costs, I notice that eBay UK are changing final value fees to include the postage element, not just final hammer price. I can accept a fee to sell an item, but really can't see the logic that the fee should include postage. eBay seems to be slowly forgetting why it was a huge success to start with.

From 4 September, final value fees for all private sellers will change, as well as insertion fees for private sellers with a Basic Shop on eBay.co.uk

Final value fees change for all private sellers

Final value fees will be charged based on the combined value of the item listed plus postage. For example, if an item sells for £20 with postage cost of £4, the final value fee will be charged based on the combined value of £24. This will not apply if the listing offers collection only.

Insertion fees changes for private sellers with a Basic Shop

Private sellers with a Basic Shop subscription will not pay insertion fees on their first 200 listings per month. This is an increase from the previous 20 listings. Insertion fees for subsequent listings will be £0.20 for all categories - media items will no longer be priced differently.

Additionally, insertion fees for auction-style listings will be reduced and the number of bands will go down to two.

Auction-style listings with a starting price between £0.01 and £0.99 will still receive the monthly 100 free insertion fee allowance. From the 101 st listing, the insertion fee will be £0.05 for all categories including media (a change from £0.05 for media and £0.10 for all other categories).

For listings with a starting price above £1.00, the number of starting price bands will reduce from five to one. These items will be charged an insertion fee of £0.15 for all categories.

These changes will simplify the fees for sellers, allowing you to list more fixed price items at no additional cost and experiment with selling higher value items in auction format.

Awful! I was told by a friend a while back that eBay were pushing the free postage route, it would pay to list it that way but obviously build that cost into the initial listing, atleast that way buyers can't mark you down for overcharging them!

Ebay's getting further and further away from being an auction site and more a shopping portal for major retailers. How many "private sellers" want an ebay shop? If you're listing 200+ items then surely you're a business? I was forced to upgrade to a business account years ago as I was listing more than 10 things a month. As this rate I'd be better off closing my ebay account and starting a new "private" seller account.
