How many Palitoy based Action Force Comics are there?

Post by Goofateer »

Thanks to Newswseller, I now have one of the Action Force German Mini Comics. Something I didn't know existed until a few weeks ago.

That along with a few recent threads I've read recently, has got me thinking more about Action Force comics again. I hadn't found anything really unusual for the last few years. So until I ran across the German Mini Comics, pretty much thought I knew about the bulk of what was out there. Doesn't mean I had it, but I was aware of it at least.

The Blood for the Baron archive shows at least 2 of these mini comics:

http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/blood/German.html

Though it's not exactly clear how many are actually shown. 2 images are clearly covers, but there seems to be more than just 2 comics shown?

So, my question is this. How many Palitoy based Action Force comics are there?

Here is most of what I found it the archives, as shown here http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/blood/Covers.html

  • Battle Action Force (Obviously)
the 5 UK Action Force Mini Comics
The "micro" comic, is there just the 1?
at least 5 BAF Holiday Specials
at least 2 German Mini Comics.
Is there anything I'm missing? Anything from other countries? Inserts? Promo's? Anything.

Since I'm on the subject, I'm absolutely in the market for more of the German Mini Comics, and a few of the others. I could always use more BAF comics.

There were four issues of just Battle featuring Action Force prior to Battle Action Force too (the first strip in the archive, 4th June to 25th June 1983). Then came the five mini-comics, and then Battle Action Force (8th October 1983 to 29th November 1986).

There were only 3 Specials (1984 to 1986), and also 3 hardback annuals under the title (1985 to 1987 - they were sold at Christmas and labelled in advance). Yep, there is only one micro comic, I'm not sure where it comes from. People say it was given away free with the same issue that contained the figure poster, but this was before I started collecting.

I have two German comics, which are the ones in the archive. That's them in their entirety, as many pages were alternated with photo adverts. The second is twice as long as the first. I have no idea how many other international comics there are. I know there is also a Hasbro era European Action Force comic out there.

Very true. There are a whole bunch of Hasbro era Action Force comics throughout Europe.

Good to know on the German mini's in the archive. I really couldn't figure out what was going on there?

I think your right about the micro comic. I'm pretty sure that's how I got mine.

And had the specials and annuals mixed in together. Didn't realise the were 2 different things from the archive.

Thanks. Any more answers out there?

Just for ref, I have only included the Action Force covers in the archive, I left the Battle ones. The 1985 Battle Action Force annual had a Charley's War cover.
