That's exactly as I pictured it when I posted in the other thread. Absolutely amazing work. Really do wish I had the ability to do something like that. Brilliant!!!
I had to use 2 figures for this, 1 Muton and 1 deep sea diver. (helmet)
I split Muton at the crotch and removed his limbs and eye stalk, fortunatly the internal bodypegs that hold the 2 body shells together didnt break so I coulp clip them back together properly.
I used a small circular saw blade in my dremmel and removed the top part of his helmet and the sanded it back so it was flat (to the first rim)
I already had a deep sea diver in bits so again I used the circular dremmel saw to cut below the rim line of the helmet.
This left me with 2 helmet halves which were difficult to work with so I had to cut the eye stalk into 3 pieces and glue them into the holes to hold it all together, then i could sand the bottom back to the same rim line.
after painting and glueing I was a bit cautious about pushing the accessories onto the pegs too tight, thats why (as the baron noticed) they appear to be too long.
overall this took about 2 hours, which wasnt as bad as I expected. Thank god for the dremmel !!!!
Ah I see, did you manage to salvage the front eyepiece? Would it be possible to make it removable, maybe with a hole in the centre? That really is a nice job, and makes me wonder if the Muton isn't a robot but a battlesuit instead... (give it two minutes before TKW explodes).
