Finally.....Lunar Cruiser

Post by steve »

Some two years after I thought of the Idea, I finally have pleasure in showing the work in progress pictures of the Lunar Cruiser:

Based on a Cosmic Cruiser, with Shadowtrak wheels, and a Satellite Defence Gun mounted on its roof. The Canopy is scratch built to replace the missing one from the Donor Cosmic Cruiser, (it still needs to be finished off with a little black paint). I also need to tidy up the stickers on the gun.

The Intention was to produce a vehicle that could be made using existing parts as opposed to custom made parts, and it seems to work well.

Cool model Steve, just one minor observation of mine. When those big side guns opened fire, wouldn't they kinda tear through those aerials? Just from the angle of the photos looks like they would. Nice idea for a vehicle though.
There are really only two possibilities: Either there is life in the universe more intelligent than us, or we are the most intelligent form of life in the universe. Either way, it's a pretty worrying thought!

False Perspective

Post by steve »

Cheers!

Its the just the perspective making the guns look that way, the aerials are just about out of the way of the side guns. Otherwise that would be a bit of a design flaw with the Cosmic Cruiser  .

For fun, did the blueprint

Lunar Cruiser

Cheers for the comments :D
it's not red
Sorry not this time, but I plan to do a Shadow vehicle next.
Are you working on a specific custom figure as pilot ?
Yes, but he only exists on paper so far, but he may surface over the weekend :!:
Deadly! The Sat Defence lasers are a nice touch!
Yep, they are a very late addition to the vehicle and do work well. I've got an alternate location for them as well, I'll post some pictures later on today. :P
Maybe you should paint the wheels blue and grey, at least the hubcaps anyway.
Sounds like a good idea, I probably will 8)
Did you draw those blueprints by hand?
If only, these are a composite of the Cosmic Cruiser, Shadowtrak and Satellite Defence Blueprints. I need to do them again and darken the SatDef gun this time. :D

Here's the alternate arrangement

The Gunner is now visible with the gun moved slightly forwards. Still need to make a canopy if I decide to go for this instead.

Although... I reckon lose the Space Force logo from the Satdef guns. I still reckon the AF5 windscreen would rock, too.
