Chopper wrote:That's all good, but it won't tie him into South America and/or Hitler in South America either. I wasn't thinking of him being a Cossack, but his family falling victim the same way. Collateral damage by the Russians after the fall of Berlin and he blames the Allies for not stopping the Soviets pillaging West Germany, leaving his family to soviet mercy (or lake there of).

I don't think Vagen is Ironblood either. Cool story tho.
Okay, I thought of this tie-in that would still work with the Switzerland family death and becoming a Nazi doctor errand boy/adopted son. Make the doctor head of Hilters fountain of youth project. That would give him both ties to Hilter and South America, in that maybe it was Hilters contingency plan. Make it that the doctor set up the South American place where Hilter is found later on in the comic Death in South America. Also to not sound so out there, have the Hilter that died in Berlin a decoy, as many high target leaders have them. I don't think Hilter would be any different, and might have many others, so that he could escape unharmed. That could explain that tactic used in Operation Bloodhound where he dresses all his troops like him to provide time for Red Lasers and him to escape. Then the whole out of sight out of mind would take into play that is why he never returned to the Hilter hideout in South America, until the comic Death in South America.

I don’t think the hatred towards Soviets would suit Ironblood. Maybe a lower class view would be much better as it would allow him to be able to deal with the Soviets to get the equipment he needs and nothing more. Also I don’t see the troop thing working ether, as his troops behide the Shadow mask come from many forms of lower scum all around the world.

Piracy angle could be explained with him winding up in the Caribbean or around there, at some point. That would open the door to which he learned those tactics from real pirates or something of that nature. I think that is another very important fact just as the Swiss name Kassells to him, as it gives meaning behide the symbol and name chosen by him later on.

I like that Soviet war factory idea too, as that could explain the Russian markings on his equipment and would give rise to many other possibilities.

I did think up a tie-in for his daughter Red Banshee, if you want to include that story. Anyway, it would play out in the past to explain why there is no known information or name for Ironblood. Make the mother of Red Banshee an assistant of Ironblood during his education, young, smart, beautiful, and the works. Have her so twisted in love by the Baron that she destroys all known records of him as he planned. Maybe when it comes down to it, have the Baron then sacrifices her to save himself, but not before making it impossible for her to tell the true story of him to anyone. Maybe with a mind wipe of that knowledge or just an small explosive implanned in her brain that would go off if she atempted to say anything about him. Unknown to him that she is pregnant at the time when he sacrifices her. That would give rise later to explain the hatred Red Banshee has for Ironblood.

How does those sound?

Agreed that he wouldn't hate any particular race or be motivated by petty revenge. His worldview is bigger than that. His motivations are conquest and control, his hatred is for weakness and fools.

That said, in the story Ambush the Shads act as mercenaries, nothing more.

We're also leaving out the space element. Are the Roboskulls and moonbase seen in Codename Moondancer another outpost in his conquest of the Earth, or one step towards conquering space?

One suggestion which may not quite fit in with GI Joe lore, is that instead of becoming Cobra Commander, as depicted in World Enemy No. 1, that he instead has a gender swap op and becomes the Baroness.

Yeah, I don't see petty revenge totally being acount for motive, but it would fuel the fire to start. Could be that he figures the wrongs that have been done need to be fixed and he is the one to do it.

That whole space angle is hard for me to grasp. It's like Space Force drops off the face of the galaxy once Ironblood becomes CC. Also if AF had that type of tech, then why were they unable to capture Ironblood in the first place or just eliminate him. I guess it's getting too much into Sci-Fi for me there, as when that happens I start to think of Star Wars. And while I love Star Wars, it just doesn't fit into my Joe world. Then again Space Force is a big part of AF, so I would just say that any space elements would be to further his conquest of earth. That being said and to combat Space Force.

 I don't know how many would want to go for a gender change for him. I don't know if he would go that far, as I look at the IB helmet/CC mask as a way to conceal the truth, until the day when he is ruler. Then again that is my take on him.

I also left out that collateral damage done by the Soviets of Berlin and West Germany could add blame to on the Allies, if that was how the doctor was kill. I think having Ironblood flee Soviet controlled west Germany could add to the motive and all as during that time it was really hard to do without being shot. Could be that he had to suffer a few years of Soviet controlled West Germany before atempting his escape? Maybe make it that the weath of the doctor wasn't available to him at the time, as it was set up in Swiss accounts and stuff like that. The only way for him to use it was to escape. I can play around with that a little more.

Then lets leave outer space alone and just make it war in the upper atmosphere. Moondancer and his Triad returned in AF colours for the epic finale Operation Deep Cover, as did Red Wolf and his Cobra Roboskull.

I don't know of many dogfights that have taken place in the upper atmosphere, but I can work with that.

That's what I was alluding to. What starts out as revenge then leads on to pure anger and hatred. AT this point he goes all Darth Vader and decides to conquer the Earth to make it better for him.

I think Space Force can't be ignored. Space superiority won't necessarily make it easier to take out the Baron either. It could have been purely a defence thing to start with. Defend the shuttles and stations as :baron: had the Roboskulls and was shooting down shuttles in an effort to extort cash from ESA and NASA?

I will have the beginnings of Space Force fleshed out with series 1 soon anyway. ;-)

PS check the news from over the last year pertaining to SMERSH and the Hitler Skull. It was faked.

Yeah, I could see that would work, but all in all if you have the tech to point a base of the Barons, you should be able to use that to take him out too. Which, I just thought more of the Space Force was too much of an advantage that AF had, is most likely why it was somewhat less of a presence in the later comics too.

Yes, there are many theories on Hitlers death. Very much like many things that have been covered up by one government or another. You can say the same thing about Elvis, JFK, among others. Conspiracy theory or not, will we ever know the real truth? Most likely not, as there are too many that don't want to know or want you to know. Does it change the price of tea in China either way, no. I don't like to get wrapped up in those, as it mainly leads to deadends. It would be cool to find the truth behide some of the greatest mysteries, but I don't see the Hitler one being uncovered any time soon. If anything, it only makes for some good stories . Plus, if you found out today that Hitler was living/lived out a normal life in say British Columbia, Canada as a Christmas tree farmer, it would really sink your comic story you like ;-) :-P.

Not to likely really. Only thing we know for sure is what the Russains had was not Hitlers skull, and he would be 121 if he were alive today. I think we are safe. ;-)

I see no real problem in having Space force or Roboskull's. Its just another avenue of combat.

Yep, for every Space Force orbital satellite that could take out the Baron from orbit, there was a Laser Exerminator on standy. I'm liking the idea of the NASA extortion though, as it's fits with the piracy. So if, as established, he's a pirate and a mercenary, doesn't that make him financially motivated?

In both the opening Action Force strip and World Enemy No. 1 he demands currency from the UN under threat of terrorism.

That is why I added "lived out" ;-), and you have to take into account that it's coming from the Soviets and way after the fact. I don't know how many stories there were of what was done by the Soviets with Hitler's body, I think that last one was it sits in Stalin's private collection, as he was crazy obsessed with Hitler or the story goes. It isn't like any of that stuff is coming from the person that it's about, so mainly you have to take stuff like that with a grain of salt.

Anyway getting back on topic. Yes, but that is just the nature of piracy and terrorism, as are followed by demands of some insane amount of currency attached. I don't think that would be motive enough for Ironblood. It would fit the bill though with what he is doing, but it could be his thinking to the quickest way to victory would be to control the currency of the world, which would hold true if it could be done. Also those things are hand in hand, as you can't have one without the other.
