Blood for the Baron!

I got 3 birthday cards in the post today !! even tho its not my birthday until Tuesday.

all 3 of them had been opened !! and whoever opened them hadnt even bothered to attempt to reseal them !

Im guessing some dodgy postie has been checking for money or vouchers ? ... bastards !

Sorry to hear of your problems. I guess you can always check with the senders whether there were any valuable contents now missing, like vouchers. If there are, then the senders can claim through Royal Mail, as long as they have some proof.

I must say, I've sent a huge amount of things by post in the last 6 months, having been actively selling on eBay and, touch wood, I've had no problems and, apart from one package that took a month to arrive by recorded mail, I've been very pleased with Royal Mail.

Im confident there is nothing missing, I still got my cards .... I just think its wrong that they have been opened !

It is wrong and the postie could be dodgy. My parents had similar happen, reported it and it turned out that a temp postie had been drafted in to cover for the regular bloke - and this temp was pilfering from loads of people.

My "Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1PM the following day" parcel sent on the 26th May just arrived today. Not bad - two days, but HELLO!!! ROYAL MAIL!!!! You call it "Guaranteed by 1PM the next Day". Two days!!! I feel slightly robbed. Contents of the parcel are ace though!

Andy - I would report it anyway, even though nothing missing. It's the point that he's checked that's wrong, and if there was anything on there he'd have had it. Reminds me of Postman Plod strip in Viz where he used to check all the cards for money!

I'd report it, I'd kick up a huge stink and have the bastard's head on a plate. That's a personal invasion IMO.

Do they still have stocks outside the Post Offices in Cumbria Andy? If so I'd be demanding he be placed into them for at least a week.

For me, it all points to Mr Postie. It must be him opening them. If he tried to say it was the sorting office then surely the question must be asked why didn't he report it to his bosses that the cards were already opened? If I were him I'd be doing that to cover my own arse!

Isn't a criminal offence to tamper with the mail?

I think the fact that it's called the Royal Mail makes it an act of treason against the crown.
