hello all,
i visited the MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD, BETHNAL GREEN, LONDON a couple of days ago and found the following.............

in a large display case under the stairs on the left of the main gallery is a display case. it is unlit and well out of the way............i almost missed it. it contains a large diorama of a grand house, its grounds and a river. the base has many AF figs and vehicles layed out in a battle scene. many of the bits are incomplete or displayed incorrectly and have got very dusty and fallen over with time. the case is marked GIFT OF PALITOY. interesting items are LOTS OF ATT STUFF, IE ENEMY WITHOUT SKULLS AND CHEST EAGLES. ATT SAS JEEP, TSATT HOVERCRAFT, ATT SPACE SEC TROOPERS. ALSO PRESENT IS A FIG OF PHONES :phones: WITH BLUE PACKS AND LEG STRAPS. THIS IS THE SAME AS SHOWN ON THE REAR OF FIG CARDS. HE IS ALSO CARRYING A PISTOL LIKE RED LAZERS BUT IN RED AS ON THE CARD. I WONDER IF SOME OF THESE FIGS WERE THE ONES USED FOR PUBLICITY SHOTS THEN GIVEN TO THE MUSEUM WHEN NOT NEEDED. THE SAME GUN IS CARRIED BY SPACE SEC TROOPER IN BLUE. THEY LOOK HAND PAINTED. THERE IS A SPACE PILOT :moondancer: WITH NO CHEST BADGE.

in another case is Z FORCE BATTLE TANK AND TWO FIGS OF STEELER. ONE OF THESE IS MARKED WITH Z ON HIS UPPER ARM THE OTHER NOT, WHERE DOES THIS DIFFERENCE COME FROM?

there is also a load of actionman stuff in the same sorry state. i have got the curators number to see if she will allow some one to clean up and repair the display, but i havn't managed to get hold of her yet. its worth a look but i'm glad i didn't travel a long way to see it!

That's a mixture of good and disappointing news. May be worth a diversion next time I'm in town though.

Did you notice if the museum allows photography?

Just disown them of all their items due to "negligence parenthood"

:eagle: the museam of childhood was given the stock you saw when palitoy closed down this included other items which they had lying around getting caught in the janitors brush as he swept up for the last time as any doubles have been sent to Fiona Ure at snibston discory hall in coalville i spoke to her a few months ago as she is setting up a display here in leicester hopefullyit wont get neglected as im hopeing to get involved and supply her with any ones shes missing to get a near collection on view

Hey cool! I went to that museum many years ago, I haven't been able to remember where it was.

When i saw the display case, with a cool diorama set up, and all those toys (including the z force base) that i never had I was blown away.

By the sounds of it, the display was a bit more prominent then. Still, a decent digital camera might be able to get some good shots!
