Action Force on the cover of ScifiNow

I'm in Darwin atm and on the way had a look thru the overpriced crap magazines at Melb airport. I got ScifiNow as it was the least offensive and because it had a Dr Who book with it. I opened it and bugger me, there was Action Focre on the front cover. It was miniscule but it related to a 3 page article on Rise of Cobra. The reviewer was an obvious idiot with little or no knowledge (as appears to be the case with a lot of the reviews in SFN) but AF is again on the front cover of a major publication. Yipee.

Must dash, Cpt Crappers and Muton are busy playing dodge the croc and annoy the Wombat.

Its not much cop from what I was reading. First indication was when they said Aliens was a good sequel ;-) Next indication was when they printed a article about Smallville written in 2003, that I'd read years ago on Kryptonsite. Sheesh.

Aliens is the only movie in that franchise i like.

i read the novel of 3 and didn't bother seeing it. heard all the crap reviews of Resurrection and didn't bother. saw AVP and AVP2 and thought they were mediocre at best.

I didn't mind AVP, but for me the pinnacle was Alien. 1 ship, 1 Alien and one pair of brown undies. Aliens was far too predictable and for trained Marines they were hopeless. The first one was ground breaking and edge of seat stuff, imo. Oh and I much preferred Predator 2 to Predator.

i like both Predator movies, but 2 is definitely under-rated.

Yeah, Alien is genius. Existential nightmare.
Aliens - the Marines are indeed terrible (only surpassed by the Macclesfield Town FC Jedi turning up in Attack of the Clones), as are the sets and the direction. "I like to keep this for close encounters" - oh really.
Alien 3. An attempted reprise at the nightmare via Milton. Diverting, not least as it was meant to be the reuniting of the Withnail team. Monty and Withnail could not, however, partake in that instance.
Alien 4. Rewatched it recently, it's pallatable, much better than Aliens, a good take on the Ripley character, lugubriating in a grad school discourse on the gothic novel, sex & death. And in 4 there's the echo of the (superior) Dark Horse comics that came out after Aliens.

I prefer Alien,Aliens and a bit begrudgingly Alien 3 but Resurrection was Joss Whedon on crack.
