it's a web-page written like an abridged history of the war between Cobra and the groups who fought them; AF, Joes, Oktober Guard, Argen 7 and Task Force Southern Cross - an antipodean group i created. it mashes together elements from BAF comics, Marvel US Joe comics, my fan-fic and all new stuff.
I'm debating whether to add the roles of the various troops to the table at the end.
let me know what anyone thinks of it...

this is cool but surely this is back to front-
In 1983, as the war continued in the US, Cobra began attacks in Europe. This led to the formation of the European special military task group known as 'Action Force'.
Later that year, a Cobra fifth columnist seized a number of Cobra agents and equipment, splitting from Cobra to form an organisation known as the Red Shadows. Action Force battled the Red Shadows in Europe for the next three years. Under the leadership of 'Baron Ironblood', the Red Shadows attempted to overthrow European governments on both sides of the Iron Curtain, as well as trying to seize power in the African states of Natanga and Duma.
also are you ignoring the Red Jackal/Destro connection??
other than this it reads really well.
i have a couple of plans myself for a story idea but have it planned as a comic, just need some time to work a few things out.
if all goes to plan my story will see the return of The Baron and the Shadows and will re-establish The Enemy as the worlds deadliest terrorist organisation

no, i decided to make Ironblood and Red Jackal seperate characters to CC and Destro. making IB a rogue Cobra operative also enables me to explain the HISS/Hyena as being the same vehicle with a new paint job after IB nicked a load from Cobra.

lol, my plan is the exact opposite.
CC trained with the Baron. he and destro overthrew the Baron and destro stole the Enemy tech, hence the similarities.
in my verse there is also no connection between Destro/Jackal.
the Baron is a prisoner of Cobra and Jackal is in a Mars holding facility as they try to strip his borg brain of useful info.
everything the Black Major thought he knew about CC/Ironblood was misinformation designed to keep him off balance.
until now................................
basic plot and still a lot of work to do to fill in the gaps.
also wanna see what Jamar is upto with Red Dawn as i dont want to step on his toes

The Cobra War had its origins in the American involvement in Vietnam. Not only were several of the American group known as G.I. Joe veterans of the war, the man who became Cobra Commander had a brother who served in that conflict.
The Cobra organisation first emerged in the 1970s. During the 1973 Oil Crisis, the man who became Cobra Commander suffered both financial and personal tragedy when his used car dealership went bankrupt and his wife left him. Believing the US government tried to squash the little guy, the one-time salesman turned to illicit scams and pyramid schemes to make money, ultimately forming the Cobra organisation as a paramilitary force dedicated to the overthrow of the United States government.
In 1982, Cobra initiated the Cobra War with a series of car bombings, hijackings and assassinations across America. President Reagan subsequently ordered the reformation of the secret G.I. Joe unit as a special force dedicated to hunting down Cobra.
With the threat posed by both the Red Shadows, and Cobra, who were arming Afghan rebels, the Warsaw Pact formed its own task force to battle them; the Oktober Guard. Initially comprising just five members; Col. Brekhov the CO, Schrage from East Germany, Czech helicopter pilot and sniper Daina, Horror-Show, the Georgian RPG trooper and Russian marine Stormavik; the Guard later expanded in 1989 to include Ukrainian paratrooper Berkut, Russian frogman Akula, Major Red Star, Big Bear and the fighter pilot Hot Jets.
In 1986, Cobra began operations in South America; several attacks in Argentina contributed to the downfall of the military junta, leading the new democratic government to form 'Argen 7', a paramilitary group to combat Cobra. Under its commander, Shimik, Argen 7 carried out operations against Cobra in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay and a joint mission to Brazil with G.I. Joe.
With the demise of the Red Shadows in 1986, Cobra stepped up its operations in Europe in 1987, including an attempt to destroy the Eiffel Tower, an attempted kidnapping of the Ishmali Ambassador to Britain and a major bomb attack on Rome.
1986 also saw Cobra's most ambitious plan come to fruition, the creation of an island landmass in the Gulf of Mexico, which became Cobra Island.
From Cobra Island, the organisation was able to begin its attempts to become a new world power, principally via exporting weapons to poorer nations, such as Sierra Gordo in South America and Frusenland.
1987 saw Cobra's headquarters in the continental US, the town of Springfield, invaded and overrun by a G.I. Joe assault force. This forced the relocation of all Cobra personnel to Cobra Island. The attack occurred at the climax of an advanced genetics experiment by Cobra's lead scientist Dr. Mindbender to create a cloned super-soldier. This soldier, who was given the name Serpentor, was created using DNA recovered from some of history's most notorious conquerors and tyrants. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Serpentor attempted to usurp leadership of Cobra from Cobra Commander.
When the location of G.I. Joe's headquarters was discovered, Serpentor led an attack on the base, in the course of which Cobra Commander was seemingly buried beneath several tons of rubble.
Cobra activities continued in Europe, and the Mid-East, with Trucial Abysmia being another recipient of Cobra weapons. Action Force also repelled a Cobra assault force that seized an oil terminal in the United Arab Emirates. The assault was designed to cripple Mid-East oil production, but was thwarted by an SAS Force covert team, while Z-Force armour engaged the Cobra forces to distract them.
1988 saw the apparent return of Cobra Commander. In fact, it was a Crimson Guardsman who had assassinated the real Commander, replacing him thanks to a high-tech battle suit. This faux-Commander clashed with Serpentor over the leadership of Cobra, even as they sought to foment a civil war in Frusenland. The civil war was thwarted by G.I. Joe's Battle Force 2000 unit when they uncovered evidence of Cobra's use of a 'paranoia ray' too incite violence. Soon after, an agent of Serpentor's faction of Cobra successfully infiltrated G.I. Joe's new base in Utah and stole a component of the Joe's space shuttle. This incident caused a degeneration of the situation on Cobra Island, prompting the onset of a civil war. Serpentor's faction traded the shuttle component for G.I. Joe's assistance in defeating Cobra Commander's faction. However, the war took a new turn when Destro assaulted the island and removed the Baroness from the island, while Zartan killed Serpentor. Cobra's leadership was now consolidated under the fake Commander. However his reign didn't last long as the real Cobra Commander returned and ousted the pretender.
1989 largely saw a stabilisation of the war; Action Force continued to stave off attacks in Europe, whilst the Oktober Guard expanded its ranks as Cobra sold arms to various separatist groups in the Soviet Union as it experienced turmoil. America and Argentina suffered no major attacks, but a new front opened when a Cobra cell began operating in Australia and New Zealand. Together the two countries formed 'Task Force Southern Cross', a small elite group to combat the Cobra threat.
In 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed whilst a civil war erupted in Yugoslavia. Cobra profited handsomely by selling arms to Bosnian Serbs, Croatians, Bosnian Muslims and Slovenians in the Balkans. Meanwhile they sold arms to Armenians and Azerbaijanis in their war, whilst also supplying them to Chechen rebels in Russia.
The Oktober Guard spent most of the next three years attempting to put an end to the smuggling of weapons to the Chechens.
Cobra also supplied advisors to Saddam Hussein during the occupation of Kuwait, although they were largely ignored and sidelined, no doubt contributing to Hussein's crushing defeat at the hands of the Coalition forces.
Over the next six years, Cobra's primary activities were in the field of arms sales to the various groups fighting in the former Soviet republics and the former Yugoslavia.
Finally, in early 1997, the Action Force Space Force group deployed a series of surveillance satellites that they were able to use to pinpoint the locations of every Cobra cell on Earth. Action Force's Commander convinced the commanders of G.I. Joe, the Oktober Guard, Task Force Southern Cross and Argen 7 to work together to destroy the Cobra cells.
This final end game began with a G.I. Joe air strike on Cobra Island, which destroyed their radio broadcast centre, preventing Cobra from warning the cells of the impending attack.
Subsequently, various teams joined forces to assault the safe houses of the Cobra cells.
Zartan and Zarana were killed in the raid on their New Jersey petrol station, whilst Zandar and several of the Dreadnoks were captured.
Copperhead was captured in the Florida Everglades.
Wild Weasel was killed during a dogfight in Missouri, attempting to flee from the Cobra air base that was disguised as a freight service.
Red Jackal, who had survived the fall of the Red Shadows, fought a GI Joe armour unit in Los Angeles. His Track-Vipers and Motor-Vipers, finally succumbing. Jackal himself was captured alive.
In Paris, Airtight, Barbecue and Clean-Sweep of GI Joe joined forces with Action Force's Scout and Blast-Wave to bring down Cesspool and his Sludge Vipers and Toxo-Vipers. The arch-polluter was killed in the battle.
Z-Force battled the Desert Scorpions at their camp in southern Egypt, whilst the Oktober Guard took down a force of Track-Vipers and Motor-Vipers in Moscow.
SAS Force, together with Flint, Lady Jaye, Hit&Run and Footloose of GI Joe, successfully raided a Cobra air base outside London, capturing Red Wolf, another Red Shadow survivor.
Outback, Recondo and Beach-Head joined Task Force Southern Cross to capture Major Bludd in Sydney.
GI Joe's arctic force defeated a group of Snow Serpents and Ice-Vipers in Alaska, whilst Tomax and Xamot were captured in Geneva, by members of Action Force.
Overlord was captured in Buenos Aires after a raid on his safe house by Argen 7.
Cobra surrendered to the United Nations on August 11, 1997. The combined forces of GI Joe, Action Force, Argen 7, Task Force Southern Cross and the Oktober Guard landed on Cobra Island and seized all military equipment. Cobra Commander was taken into custody and tried for crimes against humanity. He is now in a high-security prison in a secret location.

Good effort. The compromises make it work well!
