As I was working on my custom Black Major in 25th/modern style, this question poped in my head as I looked at my kitbashed figure that I felt to ask here then hisstank.

If hasbro do bring back the Red Shadows in modern era action figure form, how you would want them to look like to want buy them?

I broke down to few options:
1) Classic design, just retooled (Screw creativitry, I just want only the classic pailtoy designs.) Examples: the first versions of GI Joe: 25th - Cobra Commander and Destro.

2) Upgraded design, but still have the colors and general shape of the classic design (Some creativity is okay aslong they still honor the classic design.) Examples: GI Joe: Resolute - Cobra Commander and Destro or IDW Comic versions .

3) Total new design (The past is past, a new vision is need, screw the old pricks and the outdated views.) Examples: GI Joe: Rise of Cobra - Cobra Commander and Destro, Sigma-Six, Extreme or DDP comic versions (or the entire late 80's GI Joe Line with many, MANY varations of certain Joes and Cobras.)

4) Not really care just want them back.

Personaliy I chose the second option since they really need some armor, I mean recycling and redyeing nazi uniforms can get subspicious over long term so some minor changes can be good like a long coat or a bulletproof vests. Even Classic design would be nice, too more I think about it, though I can't see some of the designs possible in 25th form with it limiting movement.

I just see what you all think.

I would like them to be in keeping with the current range of GI Joe toy articulation, but I would want them to keep the sinister feel of the original design. Palitoy obviously only used the WW2 uniform as they had an existing mould, as long as they stay red then that's pretty interchangable. The helmet design, however, is both classic and unique and is what sets apart the range. That would need to be very close to the original IMO.

Therefore I have selected option 2 for my vote

Good question!

Me too, the head is the most important for me. If its 25th style then the body they put it on cant be too bad as they havent made too many outlandish figures, arah style is a different kettle of fish...

There's no option to say bring them back 'exactly' as they are!

Put a modern manufacture date on the leg but don't change a thing!

use ARAH era bodies with heads based on the old one.

like, a Red :ctrooper: with a :shadow: head like what Jamar was on about. or a Siegie body with a :shadow: head. hell, even the Viper coloured red with a :shadow: head...

so, i went option 2...

I am torn between updating them and classic as I have seen some great customs made that would look good as a series of Red Shadows and the classic look made more poseable. I would like new versions of the Baron and Major as I'm finding now by adding GI Joe customs they look smaller in comparison.

personally i would love the original aswell as a slightly modern one but it would have to have the exact same head details as the original including the eye strip!

ya new articulation, but same helmet design. Love the original design of the Red Shadow troopers

Love the DDP version of the Red SHadows not so much for basic troops but commanders like Red Vulture Artur Kulik and Dela eden was awesome

and Wilder Vaughns final BLACK MAJOR uniform was cool too

Removable helmets would be cool, then they could double as the Black Major's renegade army.

Well, not only would that be a wasted opportunity, it would also devalue the originals.
