Fetch Felix

Thought I'd share a few of my pics that I've posted previously on JoDios. This is one of my favourite little subteams I've put together...

The phrase “Fetch Felix” was used by the British Army as the signal that a suspect device had been found. Felix (a cartoon cat with nine lives) was chosen as the call sign of the 321 EOD unit (now the 11 EOD Regiment RLC). This unit became the most decorated squadron in the British Army during peacetime, mainly for operations in N Ireland, so it seemed appropriate that my Action Force EOD team would borrow the title. Here they are posing on a recent deployment to South America where they helped the local army and security forces deal with bombs and booby traps being used by numerous drug cartels.

Current "Felix" team roll call...
Tripwire - as Action Force’s top EOD technician, he personally inspects each device they are called to deal with and with the help of his team, disarms them.
Bazooka - also EOD qualified, he specialised in IEDs which use anti tank missiles/mines.
Barbeque - his skills and knowledge are vital when dealing with incendiary devices and those near locations such as oil/gas pipelines (popular terrorist targets). He’s also trained to deal with chemical/radiological threats.
Stalker - the team’s current medic, he also provides cover and tactical expertise especially in jungle and urban environments, where IED’s can be traps designed to catch the EOD team.
Breaker - not only responsible for the teams comms, he also operates various jamming devices to prevent the “bad guys” setting off devices by remote control.

TRAINING

EOD is one of the most dangerous jobs in Action Force. To qualify to join the unit's premier EOD team (callsign Felix) requires months of training... here Tripwire times a recruit as he attempts to identify, dismantle and disarm a mine while blindfolded... an essential skill as the Felix team often have to operate in conditions of little or no light... I got the idea for this from a WW2 photo of engineers training in a similar way!!

(the truck in the original post is a Power Team Elite's World Peacekeeper range... bought in my local Toymasters)

DON"T MOVE!!

While on patrol, an unlucky greenshirt steps on a mine... which fails to explode. Is it a dud? Or some sort of booby trap? The Felix team are called in and It's up to Tripwire to find out...

Image

Tripwire has decided to drill through the mine casing to cut the fuse. Despite what you see in films it seems that hardly any mines are designed to explode when you step off them but if it's good enough for Hollywood it's good enough for me!!!

These are the first of (hopefully) a series of pics of the Felix team in action!!

Comments always welcome...

looks good, some good staging.

my only crit is that Airtight ought to be in the team as the resident Noddy-suiter!

Thanks for the comments.... I agree about Airtight (but I only use the 25th anniv. figs but as soon as they get round to making an Airtight, he'll be recruited... just picked up Doc and Tunnel Rat as new recruits too!!)

yes, that's it: Tunnel Rat. i knew there was another EOD specialist but couldn't think who!

(despite the fact that we never actually saw him DOING any EOD in the comic...)

I like your team and the concept nice job. Tunnel Rat dealt with nerve gas in a special mission issue sundance it was the same issue that debuted Charbroil and Spearhead & Max not sure of the issue number I had it in Transformers.
