THis may have been covered lots before, but when people are saying "boil and pop" is that literally boiling the fig in water then prising it open? I've only done a few in the last few days, but they have come apart quite nicely just by starting at teh crotch with a craft knife and slowly putting bigger (small) screwdrivers in to open the seams up? With no boiling. With boiling, how long do you simmer the chaps for?

I usually drop the figure into a cup of boiling water for about 30 seconds, and then the arms and legs just "pop" off !

Once the arms have popped out and you`ve painted them, how do you get them back in?
Or have you split the torso after the popping has stopped?

once youve popped the limbs you need to crack open the torso.
this tool might be so good after all, sometimes the bodies can get brittle with age & i just broke one using this!
steve, if you pop the limbs 1st it's easier.

That sounds so much more fun than messing around with screwdrivers. I'm going to try that tonight! Cheers guys.

you will still need to use the screw drivers to crack the body, be really carefull with the legs, the pegs have a habit of breaking!
steve, are you not supposed to be working on a case right now?

He's pouring the Vodka and Orange as we speak to see if indeed a Screwdriver does help ;) Bugger the case, there's drunken customising to be done.

BTW there is a widget for Fly tying that is very similar, I may have one somewhere. Hmmm.
