Ever been bored and then got carried away?

Thought this might make a funny topic.

Was just chatting to Steve and he mentioned that he'd been dabbling with the collection room whilst the missus was out, which made me chuckle on two accounts,l

first, there's doing stuff related to your collection whilst the partner is away or not looking

second, times when you just fancy a change for the hell of it and doing something completley impracticle with your collection.

As an example, I run a collectables business, I had delivery of a lot of Star Wars figures, got bored and thought it would be really cool to set them up. It took 4 hours, and gave up because of clone dominos, but here's some shots of what happened when I got bored:

I'm sure we all have similar stories of silliness or what you have done with your collections, the lengths you sometimes have to go to for your colelction or how partners just think you have lost the plot, so lets hear all your stories here :)

Dave.

Good Lord Dave! That's a huge army! When you say you run a collectables business I'm hoping you've not just opened all your profits up there?

It's hard to know where to start with my "bored" tales really. One of the more random ones, that is totally unconnected to collecting at all, was before I lived with the intended Mrs SteveD and I decided to start to make apple chutney at 10 at night, thinking it'd take at most an hour or so, and would be lovely with my cheese sarnies for work the next day, oblivious to the fact that it takes roughly 5 hours! I learned my lesson though - always read ahead to the end of a recipe before starting. Needless to say I'm sure I was the only person in the UK that night scouring the internet at 3 in the morning for advice on how to sterilise storage jars!

I still to this day believe it tastes better for the fact it was made so late in the day. Always goes down a treat, once everyone has finished taking the piss out of my insomniac ways.

If anyone wants a jar I will gladly trade one for a loose red shadow head for a custom I am doing? (and now I surely also take the award for weirdest item offered as part of a trade too?).

Well, you guys got me there. That's an awesome collection of Clones there Dave. I'll have to show my son in the morning. He's pretty proud of his dozen.

Craziest thing I've ever done is start cataloguing Euro exclusive Joes for the Baron;-)

Tho ,when I were a lad my mates and I used to go shooting for an elective at school on a Friday arvo. Used to go and buy heaps of toy soldiers then line them up out on the range. The bada bing bada boom.... Hahahahahahaa....... sorry.... Hahahahahahaaa. Sorry, really....Hehe.

I once done that to a Star Wars Scout Walker and an Optimus Prime :)

In terms of REALLY stupid games, we used to play one, which looking back made no sense at all.

As bangers/ bottlerockets were banned for sale as kids, whenever anyone went abroad they used to bring back as many French Bangers as they could.
Where I grew up is in the middle of nowhere and the New Forest has animals roaming around free within it's limits. We used to find a fresh cowpat, stick a banger in and light it. We would then scrum around the cowpat and the game was, whoever ran away first was the chicken - which makes no sense as if you stay'd there too long, you'd get covered in sh!t.
We used to if anything, try and hold people there and not let them get unhooked an run away.

Oh how we laughed and how mothers used to complain that the backs of our jeans would sometimes be pebbledashed after playing out in the forest.

What a great thread it has made me smile especially the chutney bit.
One thing I did when I came home from school one day(many many many years ago)was to watch star wars from start to finish and I proceded to write the entire script out word for word even the robot noises haha god I still remember being sat there, obviously it took me ages to do and many nights and then a few years later they bought out the scripts in a book anyway haha. :kraken:
Oh whats worse is my mum phoned me some years back to say she had cleared the loft out and turns out she threw it thinking it was just old rubbish for school :0(
