Hunter without SAS logo - factory made?

Hi everyone,
At the moment, I have - among many other things - a Hunter figure for sale. I am pretty sure I bought it in the 80s in one of those Palitoy 4-in-1 sets with 4 random figures.
My Hunter has no SAS logo. I don't mean it has worn off, I mean it just looks like it was never there to start with. I have no recollection from when I bought it if this was the case then, or it really did wear off -so- smoothly, so I can only base myself on how he looks now.
I have made photos with as much detail as I could under different angles of light in the hopes of seeing maybe an over-painted logo like with my Red Laser helmets, or the remnants of a print that was once there, but there just isn't anything to see, not even scratches. If it helps, mine's the dark-webbing/lazy eyes version as Hopper described it.
Please, can you guys help me? Do the Hunters really wear this smoothly or is this a variant I just haven't heard about?
