Holiday Major Bludd and Shadow Destro - palitoy variants

Having got wind of the news that Palitoy was about to close Major Bludd decided to cash in his chips, grabbed his wetsuit and headed off on holiday to Cornwall.

I bought these of the rack several years ago. It is a different version of Major Bludd using the same mold as the Q Force Aqua Trooper Note that the Q Force logo is not present.

Also, the normal Major Bludd blister has seperate compartments for his weapons, this version has a standard single compartment blister.

Also, the card features the early Cobra Logo. Basically they stuck an older figure on a newer card, the hard part to explain is the lack of Q logo, if it was really just an old Aqua Trooper it would have the Q. As such, the figure should probably be considered a new version of Major Bludd.

Noted all bubbles have crush damage and splits bt too small for removalor insertion of figures. I was thinking about sending these over to UKG.

Anybody else have any thoughts or second examples of these.

I also have a Red Shadow on a Destro card, Shadow Destro.

The Baron says this Willy Nilly carding was common at the end of the Palitoy era.

To me it looks like they were making a mad dash for cash, carding everything anyway they could as fast as they could regardless of who's who really.

I love this kind of thing.

Thanks.

Yup, Palitoy cleaning out any old inventory on any old card. There are massive threads about miss-cards, end of line throw outs and friday arvo specials around here. Missing the Q is pretty cool.

Your ones are end of line, they used a thin single bubble and any ole random figure.

It's odd how things end up anywhere, I recently made a purchase of a variant that was in Hawaii.

How long ago did you buy these?
The price labels for these seem a tad on the high side, my local toy shop used to knock these miss-matched carded figures out @ 49p each (back in the 80's), even reduced to £1.75 these would of been around the original R.R.P.

No one has tried to turn these miscardings into background? :bludd: may have had :qforce: training way before becoming a criminal and losing his eye, while :destro: may have been a :enemy: grunt during the time of Destro XXIII, to get a better business relationship between his father and :baron:, and he quit the Shads when it was his turn to don the family mask.
