Blooded

Hiya,

No doubt you've all noticed the forum has been offline for the past four weeks, I'm sorry to have to announce that we have taken a major hit. In a nutshell, a third of the forum data is gone forever. I and others have tried everything to retrieve it, but it simply cannot be done. It appears that the 30-second timeout that plagued the board a few years back has also affected my meticulous backups; every single one dating back to 2008 is incomplete.

Every forum has been hit, the wost incidents are the post counts. No doubt you have all lost posts, my own personal count has dropped from over 25,000 to under 12,000 and many of those were site info, navigation, FAQs and projects - it will take me a while to rebuild them. All members of the BFTB Elite will remain members, regardless of the current counts, but unfortunately there is no way of knowing who was nearly at the 1000 mark. I'm sorry about that, if you can remember your rank or post count, please drop me a PM. Abject apologies go out to meertoh who's account has been completely lost, our longest-standing active member.

The feedback thread is decimated. I have no idea if the threads tally with the counts, we'll just have to pick up where it leaves off. The last three Custom of the Month winners are also currently unknown, but I believe that two of them were my own - the SAS Phantom and Q Force Battle Platform, if anyone remembers please shout. The Colouring Project instalments and discussions are similarly lost. The archives still stand though, anyone who was waiting for the last chapter of Desert Strike can view it in the main Comics archive. The 30th and 9th anniversary forums are lost as are the Joecon 2011 and 2012 discussions.

My deepest regrets are the lost submissions by Dave Tree and Jamar Miller to the Roll Out Roll Call 3, Rising Sun Comics and Action Man forums. I'm so sorry, guys, I know how much work was in there and it breaks my heart to have let you down - I've tried everything to salvage them and it just cannot be done.

The good news is that every submission to the Customs forum was backed up to my hard drive. Did anyone managed to save the images for the Action Force stationery, please? I can't remember who posted them - sorry.

Some of the forum counts are reading strange, saying 'No new posts' when there are posts within, I hope that will sort itself out once the discussions resume. I think the only thing we can do is get back into it and carry on.

Sorry, everyone.

A very glum :baron2:

Sorry to hear this happened.

I know you and others will have worked tirelessly to get the forum fixed, so a big thank you for trying so hard, and well done for actually getting the place up and running again.

For me the things that make this forum a great, perhaps unique place are the cameraderie, the friendliness to newcomers and of course the brilliant customs and fanfics. Thankfully the first two are safe from the perils of technology and, as for the latter two, while it's awful that so many threads have disappeared, if there's a slight positive it's that hopefully members will have their own back-up of lost pics and docs and can share them again over time.

But mostly, thank you again for your work, and so glad to see the place is back.

We can rebuild it - we have the technology...

Just really pleased BFTB is back up Baron! It's sad to have lost lots of posts, but we have plenty more where they came from!

Let the fun commence!

Glad we are back but of course a real shame about the old posts, just got to put more b.s. on here to fill/flood it again

I've stuck an announcement on Facebook on the All The Cool Stuff page, might be good to draw folk in who might not have picked up it's live.

And I was glad.

That's what I wanted to write. And I did because I am.

But maybe it should be "Back in Black".

But then I'd think about mourning. I've lost c. 1185 posts. And those were most of the intelligible ones. This is hard to compute.

It's not all about me but it's all about us which is about me and us and all of you and holy crapola is this all dissolved into the great nothing?

But if I had lost fewer, most of them would make no sense without the ghost of Meertoh replying "Sherry." to every other one. The question being "Sherry?" obviously.

Er... It's great to be back. I need to process this at some subliminal spring 1985 level.

IT'S THE PALITOY CURSE. IT CAME BACK TO HAUNT US. EVERYTHING IS LOST. THE F*CKERS WILL RUE THE DAY.

But we move on.

:stake: "Elegia pro Baronia"

Respect as ever to Eisenblut for slogging through the salvage op. I should try and say something more effusive but I hope that's clear enough, I don't quite know how to put it right now.

:quick: - 1184 posts and counting

RESURRECTING - MW2 & MW3 :zforce: thread - :space: random figure thread - Falklandsy type thread - :laser: is not a ninja thread - 1000 post thread - 2000 post thread - IN DUE COURSE
