Blood for the Baron!

Cheers Paul, this was a bit of an impulse buy, my local T.K.Max were selling these (just before Christmas) for the bargain price of £6.99.

I'll pop in later in the week to see if they've got any more left in stock, I've really enjoyed making these and could easily bash up 6 more in different poses to battle those Germans I made last year..


T.K. Max also had a couple of other Air-fix kits on sale including the classic 1:32 German Half Track for £9.99, with a little luck they might be reduced even further to clear

"This plane originated in a U.S.Navy design contest for a shipboard single seat fighter in early 1938. The Corsair's designers aimed at building the fastest fighter in the world.
Based on the Pratt & Whitney Double Wasp engine, the V166 B design was approved, and the prototype built which was ready in early 1939.
The immense power of the engines required that an enormous airscrew be used, and the inverted gull wing gave adequate ground clearance while keeping the undercarriage length to a minimum. The Royal Navy were the first to operate the machine from carrier and the U.S. Marine Squadrons used the Corsair from Ground Bases"

Also used extensively in the Pacific by the RNZAF, in fact, there were rows upon rows of them dumped after the war.

Just finished this.. gotta say, for such a simple kit, the little bugger fought me all of the way!
Had troubles all the way though the build & the previous owner had used the German decals for another project, still the Rumanian A.F. markings are a bit different

"Having been told that no production order was forthcoming, Messerschmitt nevertheless began drawings of the 109 in summer 1943. They produced a design which was completely radical, using all of the latest features. The original prototype flew in September 1935 using a Rolls-Royce Kestrel Engine of 640 HP.
After some use by the Nationalists in the Spanish Civil War, the aircraft was developed from the BF 109B1. The later JUMO engined version was in production throughout 1938, and until the advent of the Daimler Benz DB 600 and 601. The machine then became the BF 109E which was to equip almost the whole of the German Fighter Force for the first 18 months of WW II.
The model depicted, the BF 109-3, used the DB 601A engine and had some modifications to the canopy, together with some armour plating protection for the pilot. Aircraft were used by a number of Air Forces."#
