For what it's worth my vote is with the hardbacks. I know they're a lot more and stuff, but I'm really loving Vols 1 & 2 in hardback thus far. I just love how they are so much more substantial, and built to last. And a cheap alternative to trying to complete a vintage run of BAF!

Well, nothing is confirmed yet, but looking at comixpress we could do the books for $22.15 (£14.97) apiece. UK shipping quotes for similar sized books appear to be $12.70 (£8.58), which would appear to be fixed whether you buy one book or three.
The size will be 8 x 10.5", softback, but with the additional option of spine printing!
Unfortunately there is an initial setup fee of $42.20 (£28.52) per book.
Sum total is £139.05, haha same as bloody Lulu.

its the same just for the set up cost after that is much cheaper for everyone to buy it
maybe add a dollar to the book price to help with the set up cost?
before each book sold about 60 so that would be 60 bucks that could help with set up cost

Oh I know I know, was just doing maudlin humour. Fingers crossed I have found a way to batch convert the Lulu files to Comixpress specs.

this is exactly TRUE and something we all need to remember, it was part of the reason I started looking into publishing these books
I was like hey I can save a lot of money if I just find a publisher to print them new. so while expensive SteveD is exactly right, its STILL cheaper than collecting origianl ones that are on flimsy news paper paper and falling apart even in the best of conditions ( newspaper 25 years old is flimsyyyyyyyyyyyy)
Oh and we get inside color covers now, with lulu it always had to be a white one in the inside back and front cover
this is going to look even better, its too bad they dont have hardbacks.
you should ask them Baron they keep on talking about it so maybe soon they will? if people ask about it??

This is all very depressing. Things were chugging along so well too - I guess it will be paperbacks for me after all.

Ah, they don't do wide enough pages. Thanks though!
I'm a bit calmer today, a mate showed me how to do batch processing in Photoshop. I have resized everything for Comixpress dimensions. Unfortunately they want everyhting as TIFF files in CMYK colour, meaning that the file sizes are now 10 times larger than before. Each book is 7GB at the minute, so it's going to take a while to upload.
I have a little bit of work to do on the interiors, we are waiting on three more pages and some Colourists contact info. As soon as I have a working template I shall post Downloadable .cbr files for everyone to see what I have been up to. I'm really, really happy with the way the books are shaping up. We need more colourists!
Watch this space...
