BFTB Colouring Project - Important Announcement
Re: ANNOUNCEMENT
Here are the options:
Paper: Standard
Book Type: Hardcover
Colour: Colour
Size: 8.25" x 10.75"
Binding: Casewrap
Number of Pages: 240
Quantity: 1
Cost £34.44
"This product is manufactured in the U.S. Shipping rates will be high for customers outside of the U.S."
Now, going by the postage costs for the existing Best Of Books (which are four pages shorter) we have;
One hardback: £17.08
Two hardbacks: £28.07
Three hardbacks: £39.07
They can only be ordered from the US. When this happened I do not know, I ordered my hardback V2 in September for £34.00
Or:
Paper: Standard
Book Type: Paperback
Colour: Colour
Size: 8.5" x 11"
Binding: Perfect Bound
Number of Pages: 240
Quantity: 1
Cost £34.47
These are the P&P costs for the paperback version of Best Of V1 (which is admittedly 8.264" x 11.694");
One softback: £3.75
Two softbacks: £4.50
Three softbacks: £5.25
So three hardbacks = £142.39
and three softbacks = £108.66
Last time I checked the hardbacks were £30 and the softbacks were £20 and all were available from the UK. What a bastard.
I don't know how to proceed now.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT
to me #40 more for three hardbacks isnt such a bad deal... its expensive but not much more expensive for h/bs than s/bs...
if there is a lot of work there to offer both options then im happy to help if I can...

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT
Lulus shipping cost is about the same for 2 books as it is one, so ya you dont pay the same shipping cost for two books if combined probally a little more for 3 but its not 18 bucks for each one
also Baron lulu will automatically resize the images for you if they are too big so complete the hardbacks, get the pdf and then upload the pdf, after you have done this and published it it will automatically inform you of the resize , it will be the same size of the hardback, so NON US STANDARED tpb
BUT you should really use the other publisher for the softcover ( they dont offer a hard back at the moment ) that I sent ya, they are much cheaper
for example
THE 22 page RED DAWN comics at lulu cost me 11 dollars to print and publish but the new publisher that we have talked about does the SAME book for $3.05, its a 3rd of the cost ( if you let them advertise on your book somewhere)
this would make it much cheaper than anything we have done so far and thus make it easier for all to get in their hands
but in either case you should definately do the hard back anyways

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT
I'm looking at them now. If we can't release the hardbacks in the UK, and Comixpress are cheaper for softbacks in the US, we may as well scrap Lulu altogether (gnashes teeth).
I'm trying to find out how much shipping to the UK will be from Comixpress.

if you use comixpress talk to me first before you do anything the format is different with the sizes and all and margins ( dont need them)
also standared TPB sizes, takes about 6 weeks to get things completed and in your hands ( sometimes sooner) so it wont make it in time for chrismtas

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT
but please dont scrap the hardbacks! if all we have to do is upload them with no further work than there is for the softbacks then I dont see the problem?
If you dont want the hassle of uploading them then can I upload them?! Im just really not so intersted in the softbacks and I know its only me and maybe one person who feels like this but if there is no extra work then I dont see the issue. Also im sure we have US members who wont mind the shipping?
sorry to go on about this but ive looked forward to these so much for it to be potentially kind of ruined... but as I said this is only one small point of view...

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT
Dude it's over £140 for three books! I'm so not cool with that, I'd feel like a leech for asking. I just don't think it's viable.
There's still a lot to do to upload to Lulu, and their site is painfully slow and awkward to use. As I am also waiting on four more pages to come in I shall investigate other publishers and see if I can get us a better deal.
Let's look at this from a different angle: How much are people willing to pay for these?

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT
for the record, MOST People have bought the hardback of the BEst of collections very few people have bought the cheaper softbacks
so for many cost isnt an issue
just something to consider
I think abandoning the hardbacks would be an error but at the same time then I dont have to make the decision on spending the extra money either LOL
there is several shipping options, you sure you picked the cheapest ?

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT
Yup.
I'm fed up with this now. I'm going to get drunk and start over tomorrow.
