It's a personal decision really, if people choose to share pictures of thier stuff or not.

Personally I don't have a problem sharing pictures of my stuff & I really like seeing everyone's stuff & how thier collections grow & develop overtime...seeing items I remember playing with as a kid or stuff I've never seen or knew existed before is something I find particularly exciting.

I wonder if it's some kind of primitive hunter gatherer instinct kept in male psychological makeup?
You know..for some of us, displaying trophies to show & impress other members of the 'tribe' with...we've certainly all got tails to tell of finding a highly prized item that we enjoy telling or hearing stories from others.

Thanks Mark :)
Originally, due to lack of space, I started to take pictures purely to keep track of what I'd got..it's developed into a nice (& only) outlet to channel whatever artistic creativity I'm capable of & which I find a lot of pleasure in.

Besides I certainly find it easier & feel more comfortable discussing my hobby & interests, on a forum such as this, with like minded folks than I ever would sharing (as many do) every intricate little detail of my personal life on Face-book.
Take, for instance, one of my work collegues who thought I was 'strange' for using a picture of my Action-man as my F.B avatar... yet thinks it's perfectly normal to announce to the world @ large that her little boy has, for the first time ever, successfully mastered 'doing a poo' in his potty.

Speaking of such treasures, felt a bit like one of those Storage Wars guys yesterday when I picked up a childhood collection containing a mint TF Outback w/accessories :D Also bought another lot last week with 10-15 nice cardbacks of which at least 3-4 are on my Wants list, yeahhh!!

About the display thing, I made my site back in 2009 to keep track of my collection and since then used it for displaying DIO's etc to other fellow collectors. Lately it has also given me some oppotunities to buy and sell from people who would never join a forum and thats where these hidden treasures appear ;)

I have done several collection appraisals for UK Star Wars collectors for insurance.
In some circumstances/ value sometimes photos are not enough, so I have been paid as a third party to check against the inventoried items and give an estimate of valaution from All The Cool Stuff. In one case I was one of three third parties giving the appraisal. These are in extreme cases where either the total value of the collection runs into very high numbers or one/ two individual items are requested to be insured several thousand pounds.
It's no different than asking a jewelers to provide valuation on items they have created.
